ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 25 — Police began a continuing investigation after a resident received mail in violation of an order of protection. A citation for failure to yield was issued after a non-injury accident. A disconnected 911 call in the 100 block of S. Date St. proved to be accidental.

April 26 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Holly Rd. Police checked on the welfare of a resident of the 500 block of S. Washington St. A disconnected 911 call in the 200 block of E. D St. proved to be accidental.

April 27 — Routine activities only.

Thursday — A driver or passenger whose name was not released was cited at Ash St. at Grand Ave. for failing to stop, having an illegal license tag, having no insurance, possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Another driver was arrested after he was stopped in the 400 block of S. Washington St. for allegedly driving while his license was suspended, having no insurance, displaying an illegal license plate, failing to use a required anti-drinking ignition interlock, and having illegally tinted windows.

Other drivers were ticketed for having an illegal license plate light and warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. and for driving in a restricted area near Hillsboro Elementary School.

A dog owner was cited for allowing a dog to run free at C and Adams Sts.

Police gave a resident a ride to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

Friday — The owner of a dog running free at B and Date Sts. was contacted and said an underground electric “fence” had been installed. A driver who reportedly was driving recklessly in an alley was warned. A business’ questions about security cameras were answered.

Saturday — A driver was warned at US-56 and Adams St. about illegal display of a license tag. A domestic disturbance in the 700 block of S. Washington St. was investigated, but no charges were found to be warranted. A driver was cited for speeding and having no insurance at US-56 and Ash St.

Sunday — A resident was warned at C and Washington Sts. not to use a mower to pull kids on bicycles on city streets. Another driver was warned for an equipment violation at Adams and 3rd Sts.

MARION

April 25 — Police helped bandage a student who crashed a scooter on a sidewalk after school. A person reported to be digging through trash in the 1100 block of Lawrence St. was not found. Police talked to the parents of a young driver about whom a complaint had been lodged. Two other drivers were warned for equipment violations.

April 26 — Drug-sniffing dog Blue was used to check a vehicle stopped near Main and Cedar Sts. Suspicious activity was reported near an undisclosed residence. A driver was warned for speeding.

April 27 — A locksmith was located for a motorist who locked keys in a vehicle. A noise complaint in the 600 block of Sherman St. was investigated. Welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. was checked.

Thursday — An opossum was relocated to woods from 3rd and Main St. A question about motorcycle registration was answered. A driver was warned about excessive acceleration in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. A suspicious person was reported in the same block.

Friday — A drug arrest was made after a 50 mph chase on Walnut St. Police went to St. Luke Hospital to investigate a dog bite. They also met with the owner of a home were an inoperable vehicle was parked. A noninjury accident in the 400 block of E. Main St. was investigated. Suspicious activity in the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. also was investigated as was a vehicle broken down on Main St.

Saturday — A person involved in an incident from a previous week was warned about trespassing. Two vehicles were stopped for equipment violations.

Sunday — A noise complaint in Jex Addition and a suspicious vehicle on Sandstone St. in Marion’s commercial park were investigated. Five drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations.
