ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
July 5 — A dog running free at Main and B Sts. was picked up by its owner. A driver in the 400 block of S. Ash St. was warned for speeding.
July 6 — Police met with a resident about suspicious activities involving juveniles. A dog running free in the 700 block of S. Ash St. was picked up by its owner.
Thursday — Police talked to a dog owner who lives outside the city about dogs running free in the city. A driver at Ash and E Sts. was warned about an equipment violation. A 911 call originating from Casey’s General Store proved to be a misdial.
Friday — Drivers were warned about speeding in the 700 block of S. Ash St., at Ash and C Sts., and at D and Lincoln Sts. The welfare of a resident of the 700 block of S. Ash St. was verified.
Saturday — Routine activities.
Sunday — A driver at Adams and A Sts. was warned about an equipment violation.
MARION
July 5 — Police issued two warnings about fireworks debris. Five drivers were ticketed for equipment violations or speeding. An ambulance was called after police checked on the welfare of a resident of the 1000 block of Denver St. An open door was secured. A disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of Santa Fe St. proved to be accidental. No problems were found with what was reported as a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of N. Cedar St. A locksmith was called for a motorist locked out of a vehicle in the park.
July 6 — A ride to a homeless shelter was arranged for a woman in the 1000 block of E. Main St. A driver was ticketed after reckless driving was reported in the industrial park. A disturbance in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. was investigated, but no action was taken. Information was passed to another agency about a potential theft reported in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St.
Thursday — Police stood by during a civil matter near Vine and Santa Fe Sts.
Friday — A Great Bend man who formerly lived in Marion was arrested on drug, alcohol, and weapons charges after a traffic stop for speeding on US-56 near Upland Rd. Another driver was warned for speeding.
Saturday — Police had the owner move a trailer improperly parked in an alley west of the 100 block of N. Freeborn St. Three drivers were warned for speeding.
Sunday — A Marion man was arrested on drug charges after his vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation. Police took no action after a resident reported that a raccoon wouldn’t leave her porch. A suspicious unattended vehicle at the baseball complex was checked. A delayed report was taken about a suspicious person in the 1000 block of E. Main St. Two drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations. No problem was found after investigating a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Thorp St.
PEABODY
July 4 — Five Peabody officers and three sheriff’s deputies patrolled and provided traffic control during Fourth Fest activities at City Park. Officers helped with two lost-and-found cases at the park.
July 5 — Transportation to a hospital was arranged for a mentally disabled person. A driver was warned for making a J-turn. Police investigated a dog complaint in the 400 block of N. Vine St.
July 6 — Police checked on yards needing mowing, checked speed on US-50 with radar, and performed other routine activities.
Thursday — Police responded to a dog complaint, served civil process, ran radar on US-50, and performed other routine activities.
Friday — Similar routine activities.
Saturday — Burglary of a motor vehicle was reported. A driver was cited for speeding.
Sunday — Police prepared for a child custody exchange.
