ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 11 — Police met with a resident about a city code issue in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. and responded to a garage fire in the 100 block of S. Birch St.

July 12 — A pool manager complained about kids acting up. A resident complained about issues with a neighbor in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. Police received a complaint about reckless driving on US-56. Motorists were warned from running a stop sign at Washington and A Sts. and for having a malfunctioning brake light. A business owner was contacted about an open door.

July 13 — A driver was ticketed after a non-injury accident at Ash and D Sts. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 800 block of E. D St., the 1000 block of 190th Rd., and the 200 block of S. Date St. and for an equipment violation at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Thursday — A person reportedly screaming from a vehicle on Ash St. was not located. A purse was reported lost. Police met with a resident about a parking complaint and investigated illegal parking in the 300 block of N. Washington St. A motorist was warned for using a cell phone while driving. A dog running free was taken to a veterinary clinic. A disconnected 911 call from Cooperative Grain and Supply was investigated.

Friday — Drugs were seized and a driver and a passenger were arrested after a traffic stop in the 800 block of W. Grand Ave. A husky running free in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. ran into the side of a vehicle, causing a dent. Police spoke with kids who had been lying in the street on Cedar St. A motorist was warned for having a malfunctioning tag light.

Saturday — A scam was reported in the 500 block of S. Adams St., but the victim did not lose any money. A dog was reported to be running free in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St.

MARION

July 11 — A suspicious person in the 1000 block of Industrial Rd. proved to pose no problems. A driver was warned for having a malfunctioning taillight.

July 12 — What were reported as door-to-door salespeople turned out to be employees of the county appraisers’ office. No suspicious circumstances were discovered in investigation of an unattended death at Homestead Senior Residences. Police investigated a car left running in a street and discovered that the driver had run inside. The welfare of a resident in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St. was checked.

July 13 — Two juveniles in the 100 block of Jefferson St. were taken into protective custody pending an investigation. A dog picked up in the Industrial Park and taken to Animal Health Center. Three drivers were warned for speeding.

Thursday — Police met with owners of inoperable vehicles in the street in the 1000 block of Sherman St. No action was taken after a dispute between neighbors. A driver was warned for speeding.

Friday — A driver was cited for going 44 mph in a 30-mph zone near Industrial Rd. and US-56. City crews were notified of a leaking transformer in the 900 block of Melvin St. A false alarm from a business in the 100 block of E. Main St. was investigated.

Saturday — No one was home when police tried to check on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. The welfare of a resident of the 1000 block of Tanglewood St. was verified. Police answered questions about traffic laws.

Sunday — Police checked on a vehicle with transmission issues near US-56 and Cedar St.

PEABODY

July 11 — Two juveniles were cited for underage consumption of alcohol after they were caught trespassing in the business district. One also was cited for furnishing alcohol.

July 12 — A resident missing from Westview Manor was found and returned. Police attempted to assist during a child custody exchange. An animal complaint was investigated.

July 13 — A suicidal juvenile was returned home.

Thursday — Routine matters.

Friday — Police investigated an alleged violation of a order of protection from abuse.

Saturday — A citizen complained that a woman urinated in public at Family Dollar. A report of juvenile battery and a child in need of care was investigated. Three motorists were stopped.
