ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 1 — Police helped with a lockdown drill at Hillsboro Elementary School.

May 3 — Theft of a pistol and a briefase from a pickup truck was investigated. Two drivers were warned for speeding in the 400 block of S. Main St. and another was warned for speeding in the 100 block of N. Main St. Three drivers were warned for running a stop sign in the 100 block of S. Main St. Another was warned for making at J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St.

Thursday — An officer met with a dog owner after a resident reported being nipped but not injured by a neighbor’s dog running free in the 500 block of S. Ash St.. Another dog reported to be running free in the 300 block of N. Washington St. was not located.

Friday — No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from a Tabor College track meet. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Indigo Rd.

Saturday — A gas company crew was notified of a leak in the 200 block of S. Main St. Debris was removed from the roadway near 1st and Ash Sts. Curfew was enforced at Memorial Park

MARION

April 25 — Police suggested installing “No J Turn” signs in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. because of two recent accidents involving Marion High School parking spaces there.

April 26 — A child who had wandered off returned home. Police could not locate a person whose welfare was to be checked.

April 28 — Police helped retrieve a cat trapped in a shed. A tent found in a roadway was returned to its owner. A motorist received directions.

April 29 — A report of possible theft of water from a hydrant was unfounded; the city had given permission, and the water was being metered.

May 1 — An alarm errantly was activated at Family Dollar / Dollar Tree. Police helped enforce a court order to remove junk, trash, and vehicles from a property.

May 2 — Police executed a warrant to arrest a 62-year-old woman for allegedly violating her probation.

May 3 — An officer met with the owner of dogs running free and excessively barking. Court-ordered cleanup continued, with an arrest warrant being executed during the cleanup.

Thursday — A minister was contacted to bring a meal to a homeless person who was discovered staying in Central Park.

Friday — A driver was warned for running a stop sign.

Saturday — An employee accidentally activated an alarm at Ampride by entering an incorrect code into an alarm system. Police attempted to check on a resident’s welfare but found that the person was out of town.
