ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 15 — Police met with the owner of a barking dog in the 400 block of S. Wilson St., with a parent concerned about social media, and with a soon-to-be-vacationing resident wanting a house to be checked.

May 16 — Drivers were warned about running a stop sign and an equipment violation in the 500 block of S. Main St., about running a stop sign at US-56 and Indigo Rd., and about failing to dim headlights in the 200 block of N. Ash St.

May 17 — An electrical issue activated a business alarm in the 100 block of N. Ash St.

Thursday — Drivers were warned for speeding in the 300 block of W. D St. and for failing to yield to a pedestrian at D and Jefferson Sts. Police helped round up escaped cattle along Indigo Rd.

Friday — Barkman Honey employees were trained in how to deal with an active shooter. A driver was warned for failing to yield at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Saturday — Police monitored Hillsboro’s downtown cruise.

Sunday — An unwanted house guest left at an officer’s request. Questions about an order of protection from abuse were answered.

MARION

May 14 — A residents’ concern about a property line was deemed a civil issue.

May 15 — Illegal dumping of waste in Bown Corby Apartments trash containers was reported. Police discussed with a citizen a report of an accident several weeks earlier.

May 16 — A driver was warned for running a stop sign.

May 17 — Police asked a person to leave Dollar General, asked a person to leave a residence because of a civil matter, and attended a planning meeting for Chingawassa Days.

Thursday — A customer who did not pay for fuel at Ampride was recognized on video and returned to pay.

Friday — Police were called to St. Luke Hospital several times to deal with a person who, according to monitored dispatches, was harassing staff there.

Saturday — Police returned to St. Luke to deal with the same person. An all-terrain vehicle reportedly being driven without a permit was not located.
