ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 29 — Dog owners were cited for allowing a dog to run free in the 200 block of S. Adams St. and after another dog, at Hillsboro’s sports complex, bit a person who did not require medical assistance.

May 30 — Drivers were warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Mustang Rd., for failing to use a turn signal in the 100 block of W. 3rd St., and for an equipment violation at Ash St. and Grand Ave. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of Industrial Rd.

May 31 — Police took a delayed report of a wallet being stolen from a vehicle. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Ash St. Police did not find a reckless driver reported on Adams St.

Thursday — A dog running free at Casey’s General Store was picked up by its owner. A driver was warned for failing to yield at a crosswalk in the 100 block of N. Ash St.

Friday — Police spoke to a juvenile who was caught moving flags on the city golf course. A dog running free at Casey’s General Store was picked up by its owner. Another dog running free in the 300 block of N. Main St. returned home.

Saturday — Police searched for but could not find the source of multiple gunshots heard by an off-duty officer at 9:50 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. from the industrial park and east side of town. A US-56 vehicle about which a driving complaint had been received was not located.

Sunday — A driver was cited for making an exhibition of speed in the 800 block of E. D St. Youths in the Pizza Hut parking lot were told to keep the noise down. Park curfew was enforced. Police helped search for a dog an owner said he escaped. A disconnected 911 call from Barkman Honey was discovered to be accidentally dialed.

MARION

May 28 — A property line dispute was resolved by talking to both parties. Another person helped a woman stuck at Marion Cemetery.

May 29 — Police disposed of items found when checking a report of illicit drugs possibly being found in Central Park. A driver was ticketed for having expired registration and no vehicle liability insurance. A small amount of marijuana was seized. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of E. Main St.

Friday — A fight between two people near Casey’s General Store remains under investigation. One person involved was arrested on an outstanding warrant in a separate case. Cattle reportedly loose along US-77 were not found. Police met with drivers who exchanged information after a vehicle accident on private property.

Saturday — A dog bite treated at St. Luke Hospital was investigated.
