ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

June 19 — A report from the state Department for Children and Families was investigated. An all-terrain vehicle without a city permit was stopped. Information about a dog bite outside city limits was turned over to the sheriff’s department as was a request to check on the welfare of a Lehigh juvenile. Police learned that a wanted person thought to be in Hillsboro had moved.

June 20 — A resident reported suspicious activities at an undisclosed location. Another complained of possible harassment. Police continued to investigate an undisclosed situation at Wendy’s and helped a semi-trailer driver who ran out of fuel after hours at US-56 and Ash St.

June 21 — No charges were filed after police intervened in a fight at Dale’s Supermarket between frustrated workers who had been on the road for three weeks putting together furniture for a Tabor College dormitory. A large truck battery was removed from the roadway at Main St. and Grand Ave. Police provided follow-up information to a DCF caseworker. A resident expressed concern about another resident. A speeding driver was reported northbound on Ash St.

Thursday — Police shot a deer with broken legs after it was struck by a car on US-56 at Falcon Rd. Police again conferred with DCF officials. A disconnected 911 call from Grand Ave. and Birch St. was investigated. A complaint was lodged about driving on US-56.

Friday — A debit card found in a business parking lot was returned to the cardholder. Several vehicles were stopped for traffic violations. A disconnected 911 call from the 300 block of N. Jefferson St. proved to be a misdial.

Saturday — Children locked in a car at Dale’s Supermarket were freed. A resident talked to police about a civil issue.

Sunday — A loose dog reported by a person who stopped by the county ambulance station was returned to its owner. A report of a domestic disturbance at Ampride was determined to be unfounded.
