ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 4 — Police warned a person in the 100 block of S. Ash St. not to shine lasers at passing vehicles. A driver in the 600 block of S. Adams St. was cited for marijuana possession and equipment and registration violations. Police helped push a vehicle out of traffic at Ash and D Sts. and helped return two dogs a resident had caught. A reckless driver reported on Wilson St. was not found.

Sept. 5 — A driver was ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle in the 400 block of S. Floral Dr. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of S. Ash St., for speeding and an equipment violation in the 900 block of E. D St. and for making a J-turn at Main and Grand Sts. Police spoke to a parent about restrictions on driving by juveniles. An illegally parked vehicle in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. was ticketed.

Sept. 6 — Police spoke to the owner of a vehicle illegally parked at C and Adams Sts. A parking complaint in the 300 block of S. Washington St. also was addressed.

Thursday — Police helped a resident locked out of an apartment in the 400 block of N. Ash St., spoke to a resident about a special use permit for a utility vehicle, and met with a resident about a child custody concern.

Friday — Police helped return a dog running free in the 400 block of W. B St., talked to a resident about archery within city limits, and helped a family get a new car seat after a traffic accident. Drivers were warned for not using a turn signal at US-56 between Adams and Ash Sts. and for having no brake lights in the 600 block of S. Ash St.

Saturday — Police issued a citation for underage possession and consumption of alcohol. Drivers were warned for having to lights on US-56 near Kanza Rd., for failing to dim lights at Ash at Juniper Sts., for having a headlight out on US-56 near Industrial Rd. and for not signaling a turn in the 400 block of E. 1st St.

Sunday — A person reported to be on the ground at US-56 and Ash St. was not found. Police helped a person having mental health issues. A motorist was warned for having no brake or tag lights at US-56 near Industrial Rd.

Police Chief Gideon Cody has discontinued providing weekly reports of Marion police activities.
