ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Oct. 2 — Drivers were cited for having expired registration in the 400 block of E. D St. and the 400 block of N. Ash St. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St., for driving left of center with a malfunctioning license plate light at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd., and for having a headlight out in the 100 block of S. Ash St. A resident had questions about a property issue and an employee at Casey’s General Store received help with the store’s alarm system.

Oct. 3 — A dog running free in the 100 block of E. D St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. A driver was warned about improper lights at US-56 and K-15 / Holly Rd.

Oct. 5 — Theft of $2,500 worth of jewelry from an unlocked car was reported. A reported door-to-door salesperson was not located. A missing bicycle was recovered and returned to its owner. Police helped a driver locked out of a vehicle. A resident discussed parking concerns.

Thursday — A driver was cited for transporting an open container of alcohol and having expired registration in the 400 block of S. Cedar St.; the same driver also was warned about having a malfunctioning license plate light. A resident talked to police about parking a trailer in a street while moving.

Saturday — Police located and lectured children who had been throwing rocks at a house in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. A motorist who had pulled over at 180th and Indigo Rd. was arrested on suspicion of attempting to drive while under the influence of alcohol. A driver was cited for running a stop sign on Orchard Dr. Others were warned for speeding in the 500 block of S. Lincoln St., for making an illegal turn in the 400 block of Orchard Dr., and for running a stop sign in the 200 block of E. D St. Police helped a resident catch and escaped dog. A report of suspicious activity in Memorial Park proved unfounded.

MARION

Oct. 2 — No problems were noted in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 1500 block of E. Main St. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of S. Cedar St.

Oct. 3 — A license plate was reported stolen in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. A dog running free was captured near 3rd and Maple Sts.

Oct. 4 — A non-injury accident in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. was investigated.

Friday — A driver in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. was warned about having a broken headlight. No problems were found when checking on a report of suspicious activity at St. Luke Hospital.

Saturday — Dirt bikes reportedly being ridden in a field in the 500 block of N. Coble St. were not found.

Sunday — Drivers were warned about having a broken headlight in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. and about speeding at Main and 3rd Sts.
