ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Jan. 8 — Two vehicles slid off the road near US-56 and Ash St. A low-hanging power line in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. was reported to city workers.
Jan. 9 — A traffic stop in the 100 block of N. Main St. for failure to yield and driving too fast for conditions resulted in a drunken driving arrest. Police helped drivers stuck at 3rd and Ash Sts. and in the 200 block of W. 3rd St.
Jan. 10 — Investigation revealed that a young family member accidentally had broken a window on a vehicle in the 400 block of S. Adams St.
Thursday — Investigation of a suspicious vehicle parked with its lights on in the 400 block of Arbor Ct. led to an arrest on drug charges. Police arranged to open city hall as a shelter if power failed and helped a stuck driver in the 500 block of S. Wilson St. A parking complaint in the 800 block of W. Grand Ave. was investigated. Traffic control for a semi-trailer truck pulling out of Bomgaars’s parking lot was provided.
Friday — A driver stopped at Ash St. and US-56 for driving without headlights was ticketed for having an illegal license plate and no liability insurance.
Saturday — Police went to Hillsboro Community Hospital to take a report of a dog bite that occurred in Lehigh. They also provided contact information for tow trucks to drivers stuck in snow.
Sunday — An unspecified complaint received from the 300 block of N. Main St. remains under investigation.
MARION
Jan. 8 — A stop sign at Main and Roosevelt Sts. was damaged by a hit-and-run driver. A dog was reported loose in the 900 block of E. Main St. No problems were found in checking on a report of a suspicious person in the 1000 block of E. Main St.
Jan. 9 — City workers were notified of a power pole down in the 100 block of N. Cedar St.
Jan. 10 — Police and deputies dealt with cattle out near 190th and Remington Rds.
Thursday — Questions about an order of protection were answered.
Friday — A protective order was served on behalf of the sheriff’s department in the 300 block of Fink St.
Saturday — Police opened City Hall for shelter and helped a driver stuck in the roadway near Kellison and Coble Sts.
