ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Feb. 5 — At a store manager’s request, a customer suspected of shoplifting at Dollar General was told not to return. A caller complained about noise in the 900 block of E. D St. A driver in the 200 block of S. Ash St. was warned about failing to yield. An accident involving obscured windows in the 200 block of E. B St. was investigated.

Feb. 6 — A Florence woman was arrested on suspicion of drug charges after officers served an arrest warrant. Police searched for but did not find a person who had been told not to trespass on the Tabor College campus. A resident talked to police about a Facebook scam.

Feb. 7 — A driver in the 800 block of E. D St. was warned for speeding. Police discussed a resident’s complaint with a fiberoptic installation crew. A dog loose in the 100 block of E. D St. was returned to its owner. Recovered property also was returned to its owner.

Thursday — A 13-year-old child was taken into protective custody pending investigation of abuse allegations. Police met again with fiberoptic installation workers. A motorist was warned about driving in a restricted area near Hillsboro Elementary School. No problems were noted in checking on a disconnected call to 911.

Friday — Items left behind in a foreclosed house were collected. Police determined that a person wanted in another jurisdiction was not in Hillsboro. A parking complaint at Madison and A Sts. was investigated.

Saturday — A theft that reportedly occurred the night before at Bomgaars was investigated.

Sunday — Drivers were warned at Ash and B Sts. for not using headlights and at Memorial Park for parking illegally. Police helped a driver having trouble with a tire and counseled a family with an out-of-control juvenile. A resident planning to be out of town arranged for monitoring of a home.

MARION

Feb. 5 — A runaway juvenile was reported. A possible criminal case was reviewed with the county attorney, who determined no crime had occurred. An unattended death in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. was investigated.

Feb. 6 — A license plate was reported lost or stolen.

Feb. 7 — A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. Police talked to a resident about noise ordinances.

Thursday — Two trespassing complaints were received from the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A noise complaint was lodged in the 1200 block of E. Main St. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. Another driver was cited for a license violation and defective equipment at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Friday — Police helped a buyer retrieve from the airport property purchased in an online auction.
