ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Feb. 26 — City workers removed tar stuck to the tires of motorist who complained after driving over hot asphalt they had been applying in Carriage Hills. A driver was warned for speeding at 190th and Jade Rds. A business owner reported a possible scam.

Feb. 27 — A dog was captured and its owner cited for having a vicious animal after a resident was bit in the 300 block of Date St. Police conferred with the county health department about the case. Police also aided a motorist at Washington and A Sts., notified the city electric department of a problem in an alley in the 200 block of S. Ash St., and found no problems after checking on a disconnected 911 call from Casey’s General Store.

Thursday — Police worked on a weather radio at Scout House in Memorial Park, spoke to a resident about a civil issue involving a car in the 200 block of Madison St., and received a complaint about driving in the 900 block of D St.

Friday — Police helped a dog owner locate a dog that was running free. A person reportedly screaming near Jefferson and A Sts. was not located. A large piece of wood was removed from US-56 at Ash St. Police responded to a panic button at Parkside Homes duplexes, gained entrance, and called Hillsboro ambulance, which took a resident to Hillsboro Community Hospital. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56.

Saturday — A dog was reported running free on Orchard Dr. A resident reported a possible scam. A salvage tag was provided to a resident who hit a deer. A driver was warned for not using a turn signal at US-56 and Orchard Dr.

Sunday — Police and city electric workers helped a resident retrieve a kite stuck in power lines in the 100 block of S. Washington St. A dog was reported to be loose at D and Adams Sts. A resident complained about a civil matter of wanting someone to move out of a residence they share. A driver was warned about having a defective taillight at Main and D Sts. Another driver was ticketed for driving 79 mph in a 65-mph zone at US 56 and Orchard Dr.

MARION

Feb. 26 — No problems were found in checking on a vehicle parked near the back of Central Park.

Feb. 28 — Police helped the driver of a grain truck that broke down at Main and Coble Sts. A trespassing complaint was made in the 1500 block of E. Main St.

Friday — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. No problems were found in checking on a vehicle in the 100 block of S. 1st St, everything was ok.

Sunday — Police investigated a delayed report of a fight in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. An unwanted visitor was removed from a residence in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Police and sheriff’s deputies arranged transportation for a pedestrian on US-56. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.
