ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

March 11 — A trucker picking up what he thought was discarded lumber in an alley in the 300 block of N. Washington St. was located in Dollar General’s parking lot and returned the lumber, which was all the owner wanted. Police spoke to residents about a civil issue and a lost cell phone and helped a motorist get air for a tire.

March 12 — A city crew was dispatched for a downed fiber optic line in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave. Police talked to a resident about trash found at the city tree dump north of town. A driver traveling very slowly on Indigo Rd. at 170th Rd. was stopped and received a ride to Midway Motors to investigate car trouble. Motorists who reportedly had very loud exhaust were not located.

March 13 — A driver in the 100 block of S. Ash St. was warned for displaying a worn and unreadable license plate.

Thursday — A resident reported a possible scam. A lost credit card was returned to its owner. No problems were discovered in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of N. Ash St. Police discussed a civil issue and took a complaint that will require follow-up investigation. The owner of a dog barking in the 100 block of S. Ash St. was not located until the next day.

Friday — A driver at Casey’s General Store was warned about having a loud muffler. A driver in the 100 block of N. Main St. was warned for making a J-turn. No one was found when police attempted to check on the welfare of a resident of the 200 block of Elm St.

Saturday — What was reported as a fight at Ash St. and Grand Ave. actually was two people playing. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 500 block of E. D St. and for driving left of center in the Dollar General parking lot. A resident spoke to police about a civil matter.

Sunday — A driver on US-56 was warned for having a headlight out.

MARION

March 11 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

March 12 — No problems were found in checking on a report of a person digging through a trash container in the 200 block of Water St. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. and for an unspecified moving violation at 1st and Main Sts. A dead animal was removed from pavement near US-56 and Industrial St.

March 13 — No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of N. Coble St.

Thursday — Police talked to a person about a civil issue.

Friday — A non-injury accident in the 900 block of Highland St. was investigated. Drivers were warned about equipment violations at Main and Lincoln Sts. and US-56 and Cedar St., where a third driver was warned about speeding.

Saturday — Police tagged for towing a vehicle in the 1000 block of Industrial St.

Sunday — Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and at US-56 and Timber Rd., where the stopped vehicle also was searched.
