ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
May 13 — A tool kit and jumper cables stolen from one unlocked vehicle, a chainsaw stolen from another, and an unlocked sport utility vehicle stolen from in front of a residence all were recovered and returned to their owners after a police chase through town. Two THC (marijuana) vape pens were discovered in a vehicle stopped for a drunken driving check. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St., for running a stop sign in the 100 block of N. Main St., and for having loud exhaust in the 100 block of E. 3rd St.
May 14 — Methamphetamine, marijuana, and a smoking pipe were discovered during a traffic stop on US-56 between Adams and Ash Sts. Police investigated a collision with a utility pole in an alley behind the 100 block of N. Main St. A driver was warned for speeding in the 900 block of S. Ash St.
May 15 — Police controlled traffic for a group of walkers on US-56, met with a resident about a civil matter, and found no problems after investigating a disconnected call to 911 from Barkman Honey.
Thursday — Police investigated a noise complaint in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave. and helped with a mental health concern. A flowerpot was reported taken from behind the office of Rural Water District No. 4. Police helped a driver with a dead battery. A driver was warned for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St.
Friday — Marijuana and psilocybin (“magic mushroom”) gummies were discovered after a traffic stop for speeding on US-56. Police began investigating a report of suspicious charges on a resident’s credit card. A driver was ticketed for having an expired license in the 600 block of S. Ash St. A dog was reported loose in the 400 block of N. Ash St. Police discovered a water leak and notified a city crew.
Saturday — Police met with residents of the 200 block of S. Washington St. after an argument there. Police helped with a mental health issue and met with a resident about a dog fight in which the dogs were not injured. A noise complaint in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. was investigated. Drivers were warned for not using headlights in the 300 block of W. D St., for not signaling a turn in the 700 block of E. D St., for making an improper turn in the 400 block of E. D St., for speeding on US-56 between Holly Rd. and Elm St., and for driving left of center in the 400 block of E. D St.
Sunday — A resident reported losing a wallet.

PEABODY
May 14 — Police asked the owners of barking dogs to take them inside and helped ambulance attendants lift a patient in the 700 block of Peabody St.
Thursday — Police received a complaint about a barking dog in the 400 block of Vine St. and again helped ambulance attendants lift a patient in the 700 block of Peabody St.
Friday — Another dog complaint was lodged in the 400 block of Vine St. Police also investigated a noise complaint in the 400 block of Plum St.
Saturday — Two juveniles were ticketed for violating curfew.
Sunday — Trespassing was reported in the 200 and 300 blocks of Olive St. Police and sheriff’s deputies twice searched for a horse out on Nighthawk Rd.
