ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

June 17 — A two-vehicle accident in the 200 block of S. Washington St. was investigated. A vehicle that reportedly was being driven recklessly on Indigo Rd. south of Hillsboro was found. A juvenile who left a residence in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. was found unharmed. No problems were noted in checking on the welfare of a dog in the 200 block of S. Cedar St.

June 18 — Police helped a driver who had locked keys in a vehicle and spoke to a resident about a civil matter.

June 19 — Kids reportedly riding a four-wheeler in an alley in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. were not found. Police again spoke to a resident about a civil matter.

Thursday — Police checked on a vehicle that broke down at the city sports complex.

Friday — Police spoke to employees about a possible theft in December, 2022, at Salem Home and will continue to investigate the case. An out-of-control juvenile in the 200 block of S. Madison Ave. was taken into custody and transferred to a juvenile intake in Marion. Three drivers were warned for making J-turns in the 100 block of N. Main St. and a driver in the Dollar General parking lot was warned for not signaling a turn. A vehicle lost a tire at D and Ash Sts. A suspicious person hanging around A and Main Sts. was not found. Police again spoke to a resident about a civil matter.

Saturday — A driver on US-56 was warned for speeding. Police met with a resident concerned about an overdue motorist, who eventually arrived two hours late. Police again spoke to a resident about a civil matter.

Sunday— A possible runaway juvenile from the 100 block of N. Birch St. later returned home. A water leak was noted in the 400 block of Arbor Ct. and was reported to city crews. No problems were found in checking on a reportedly suspicious person on Orchard Dr. Police talked to a resident about a civil landlord-tenant matter.

MARION

June 17 — A wallet was reported missing at Dollar General. Police investigated a parking complaint in the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St. Drivers at US-56 and Industrial St. and US-56 and Cedar St. were warned for speeding. No problems were found in investigating a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Freeborn St.

June 18 — A person reported to be missing from the 200 block of N. Cedar St. was located. Drivers were warned for speeding at 3rd and Main Sts. and ticketed for an unspecified moving violation at Main and Freeborn Sts. No problems were found in investigating a disconnected 911 call from the area of Sherman and Locust St.

June 19 — Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and at US-56 and Cedar St., where another driver was warned for an equipment violation.

Thursday — A resident who had left Marion Assisted Living was located and driven back to the center.

Friday — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. No problems were noted in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 400 block of N. Freeborn St.

Saturday — Police investigated a possible harassment case and a possible burglary and vandalism in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St., but; no offense reports has yet been released in either case. Two drivers at US-56 and Cedar St. were warned — one for speeding and one for an equipment violation.
