ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
July 8 — Drugs reportedly were discovered after stopping a driver who had a suspended license and outstanding arrest warrants. A fan was reported stolen from outside Pilsen Packrats at 609 Western Circle Heights. A driver was warned for speeding in the 800 block of E. D St. Police dealt with a parking complaint in the 200 block of S. Ash St. A door-to-door solicitor was told how to obtain a permit.
July 9 — A domestic dispute at Grand Oaks Apartments resulted in the jailing of one and the hospitalization of another for mental evaluation. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of N. Madison St. and met with a resident about phishing emails.
Thursday — Police met with a resident about concerns involving a dog. They also monitored speeds around the city pool.
Friday — Police helped a driver with a flat tire in the 400 block N. Ash St., inspected a child safety seat, and checked on Hillsboro Community Hospital after its phones went down for service. Drivers were warned for equipment violations in the 900 block of E. C St. and at K-15 and 210th Rd. and were told how to resolve a registration issue in the 100 block of N. Adams St. Juveniles violating curfew at the city sports complex were warned and sent home.
Saturday — A dog owner in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was told about the city’s leash law. A branch on a power line in the 200 block of S. Madison St. was reported to the city’s electric department. A report of trespassing and attempted burglary in the 200 block of N. Main St. was found to be false. Drivers were warned for driving a mower on city streets, for not using lights when needed in the 300 block of N. Ash St. and the 100 block of S. Ash St., and for running a stop sign in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave.
Sunday — Drugs and paraphernalia were discovered during a traffic stop in the 100 block of N. Ash St. A noise complaint in the 700 block of S. Washington St. was resolved. A driver was warned for not using lights when required at US-56 and Orchard Dr. Another was helped with issues about trailer lights at US-56 and Adams St. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave.
MARION
July 8 — A panic alarm at Carlsons’ Grocery proved to be a false alarm. A person with an issue involving animals in Lost Springs was referred to the sheriff’s department.
July 9 — Police helped a driver with a flat tire near Coble and Denver Sts.
July 10 — An incident involving three people, one of them a juvenile, setting a small fire at the schools’ baseball field was investigated further.
Thursday — An animal complaint in the 1000 block of Hudson St. was investigated. Police helped a driver whose cargo became unsecured.
Friday — A non-injury accident in the 100 block of N. 4th St. and an animal complaint in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. were investigated. Police spoke to both Marion veterinary clinics about an animal complaint.
