ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 15 — A shelter house at Memorial Park was defaced with spray paint. Drivers were warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St. and for speeding in the 200 block of S. Main St., on Industrial Rd., on Sports Complex Dr., and on 190th Rd. just west of town. Another speeding vehicle reported on 190th Rd. was not located.

July 16 — A reported Facebook scam was investigated but was found to involve alleged scam artists outside of the local jurisdiction. A dog loose in the 300 block of S. Main St. was picked up by its owner. Police responded to a false alarm at Dollar General and helped ambulance attendants lift a patient in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St.

July 17 — A juvenile reported as missing was located at the city swimming pool. Police investigated three traffic accidents — two on private property in town and the other outside of town involving a sheriff’s deputy. Two pieces of missing property, including a debit card, were located and returned. Police met with a business owner about a safety concern. Drivers were warned for speeding on Industrial Rd., for illegally displaying a license plate at US-56 and K-15/Holly Rd., and for running a stop sign in the 100 block of E. A St.

Thursday — Tree branches were removed from a roadway. City electric workers were notified of a transformer problem. Police discussed active-shooter training for a Peabody nursing home and met with an insurance agent about a campaign to give dollar bills to motorists using seat belts.

Friday — No problems were found in checking a report of a suspicious person at Dollar General. Police talked to a local business about active-shooter training and met with a resident about a civil issue.

Saturday — An allegedly drunken driver at Wendy’s was arrested, and three children with her were taken into protective custody. A juvenile reported receiving threatening text messages.

Sunday — A report of a package being removed from a porch in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. turned out to be the correct recipient picking up a misdelivered item. A reportedly suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave. turned out to be kids cruising around town. Police helped water plant workers change a chemical bottle. An emergency message was delivered to a resident.
