ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 2 — A driver was warned for having no brake lights at Ash and A Sts. Police helped a driver on 190th Rd. west of town.

Sept. 3 — Two parking lot crashes involving Tabor College athletes were investigated.

Sept. 4 — Police helped a driver locked out of a vehicle.

Thursday — A missing child was returned to the child’s parents. A dog reported to be loose at Ash St. and Grand Ave. was not found. A stalled car was removed from the roadway at Wilson and C Sts.

Friday — Drivers were warned for having no lights in the 400 block of E. 1st St., for running a stop sign at US-56 and Ash St., for having loud exhaust at D and Date Sts., for improper lighting at Lincoln and D Sts., for having a headline out in the 100 block of S. Ash St., for having a tag light out in the 100 block of N. Ash St., for exhibiting speed at D and Jefferson Sts., and for having a tag light out on Indigo Rd. south of town, where the driver also was ticketed for having no valid license. Police inspected and installed car seats.

Saturday — A sick raccoon was removed from the city golf course. Police backed up deputies during a fight on Jade Rd. southeast of town. Drivers were ticketed for having no liability insurance in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave., for having no driver’s license in the 200 block of N. Ash St., and for having expired registration at Main and D Sts. Warnings were given for an equipment violation in the 100 block of S. Ash St. and for speeding in the 900 block of S. Ash St. A resident asked police to check on the resident’s house during a vacation.

Sunday — People in the city park late were warned about park curfew. Drivers were warned for an equipment violation at Orchard Dr. and Ash St. and for speeding in the 300 block of W. D St. A warning was issued in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. for parking on the wrong side of the road.

MARION

Sept. 2 — A driver was ticketed for speeding near Main and 4th St. Fireworks reported in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St. were not found.

Sept. 3 — Loretta K. Bittinger, 50, of Wiley Ford, West Virginia, was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia after the department’s drug-sniffing dog, Blue, reacted during a traffic stop in the 1300 block of E. Main St. A hit-and-run accident in the 1100 block of E. Main St. and a gas meter struck in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. also were investigated.

Sept. 4 — Drivers were warned for failing to yield at Main and Lincoln St. and for speeding and for having defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St.

Thursday — A resident concerned about a child custody issue was referred to police in other communities. No problems were found in checking on a disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Friday — A 29-year-old Marion man was ticketed for driving with a suspended license near Lawrence and Coble Sts. People involved in a disturbance at Bown-Corby Apartments were separated. A disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. was blamed on a misunderstanding.

Saturday — Dakota L. Dillashaw, 30, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, making a criminal threat, domestic battery, endangering a child, and disorderly conduct after a disturbance at Bown-Corby Apartments. No problems were found in checking on what apparently was a false burglar alarm in the 200 block of E. Main St.

Sunday — Police investigated a harassment complaint in the 1000 block of E. Main St.
