ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 9 — More than $3,000 in items were reported stolen from a storage unit. A parking violation at Wilson and A Sts. was investigated. A resident of the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. accidentally dialed 911. A security alarm in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. accidentally was activated.

Sept. 10 — Police began investigating theft of currency from Hillsboro Ampride. A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Main St. was returned to its owner. A driver in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was warned for having no brake lights.

Sept. 11 — A fender-bender in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. was investigated. Owners attempted to capture two dogs loose as Wendy’s. Drivers in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave., 200 block of N. Ash St., and 100 block of S. Adams St. were warned for running stop signs. A resident had questions about a no-contact order.

Thursday — A fender-bender in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. was investigated. Drivers were warned for having no taillights in the 600 block of S. Ash St. and for running a stop sign in the 200 block of S. Adams St. Police helped install a child seat.

Friday — The owner of a dog that bit an 11-year-old girl as she biked past Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church was ticketed. A fender-bender in a school parking lot was investigated. A driver was warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St.

Saturday — An unlocked truck with its keys in it, later recovered in Salina, was reported stolen from a residential driveway in the 500 block of S. Main St.

Sunday — A stolen car, parked a block away from one stolen Friday, was returned to its owner in Durham.

MARION

Sept. 9 — A barking dog reported in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. was not found. A resident filed an animal complaint in the 300 block of Walnut St. A disconnected call to 911 from the 600 block of S. Lincoln St. was investigated. Drivers were ticketed for not having a valid license at US 56 and Industrial St. and warned for having defective equipment at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Sept. 10 — A runaway juvenile from the 300 block of Locust St. was located and taken home. A vehicle with no license plate was reported in a parking lot at Casey’s General Store. Three drivers were warned for speeding — two at Main and Cedar Sts. and one at US-56 and Cedar St., where a fourth was ticketed for speeding.

Sept. 11 — One dog attacked another in the 1400 block of Denver St. A driver was warned for an unspecified moving violation at Lincoln and Weldon Sts.

Thursday — Police helped a driver dragging a traffic cone beneath a vehicle. A vehicle in the 900 block of Melvin St. was marked to be towed if not moved within 48 hours.

Friday — Police and sheriff’s deputies investigated an animal bite at St. Luke Hospital. Drivers were warned for making an illegal U-turn at Main and 1st Sts.; for having defective equipment at Main and Elm Sts., at Denver St. and Eisenhower Dr., at US-56 and Industrial St., and at US-56 and Cedar St., where two drivers were warned; and for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. and at US-56 and Cedar St., where two drivers were warned.

Saturday — Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and at US-56 and Industrial St. and for having defective equipment at US-56 and Industrial St.

Sunday — A dog loose in the 1100 block of Highland St. was captured. Drivers were warned for having defective equipment at US-56 and Industrial St. and twice at US-56 and Eisenhower St. and for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St
