ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 16 — A dog reported to be loose in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was not found.

Sept. 17 — A dog loose in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. was picked up by its owner.

Sept. 18 — Several drivers were warned for going the wrong way at Hillsboro Elementary School’s drop-off site. Police tagged for towing a vehicle with expired registration that was parked on a street

Thursday — A driver was warned for running a stop sign in the 100 block of E. 3rd St.

Friday — Police dealt with parking and traffic issues downtown in anticipation of the Arts and Crafts Fair. A dog loose at Tabor College was returned to its owner. A report of a dog loose in the 200 block of S. Adams St. remains under investigation. Drivers were ticketed for speeding in the 300 block of S. Ash St. and 500 block of Orchard Dr. and for failing to use proper child restraints in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. and in the 500 block of Orchard Dr. A driver was warned about improper display of a license plate at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of N. Jefferson St.

Saturday — Police provided traffic control and security, helped ambulance personnel with overheated patrons, and helped clean up after the Arts and Crafts Fair. A credit card theft remains under investigation. A loose dog was returned to its owner, and the owner was ticketed. A driver was warned for speeding at Washington and D Sts.

MARION

Sept. 16 — Police were unable to catch a dog loose in the 300 block of Walnut St. and could not find an animal reported to be loose in the 200 block of Grant St. Police also went to the 300 block of Locust St. for what turned out to be a civil issue.

Sept. 17 — Police called an ambulance to check on a resident of the 500 block of N. Freeborn St.

Sept. 18 — A misunderstanding led to a report of suspicious activity in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. and for having defective equipment near US-56 and Industrial St.

Thursday — A report of child abuse from the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. remains under investigation. Police talked to a resident about a parking complaint. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Locust Sts.

Friday — A driver was ticketed for speeding and driving with a suspended license near 4th and Main Sts. Two other drivers received warnings — for an unspecified moving violation near 3rd and Main Sts. and for having defective equipment near 2nd and Main Sts. Police talked to a resident about an animal-control issue and directed traffic around a trash container that blew into the roadway in the 100 block of S. 3rd St. during a thunderstorm.

Saturday — Burglary of a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lawrence St. remains under investigation. A driver was warned for an unspecified moving violation near Main and 4th Sts.

Sunday — A burglary in the 200 block of S. 3rd St. and theft of a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lawrence St., the same block as where a vehicle burglary was investigated the day before, remain under investigation.
