ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Feb. 17 — A Hillsboro couple were arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after they allegedly slapped each other during a disturbance in the 600 block of S. Washington St. Police met with residents about a civil matter and a child-custody issue, investigated a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of E. 3rd St., and helped Marion police with an investigation and computer issues.

Feb. 18 — Parents dealt with a reportedly out-of-control juvenile in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. Police investigated a report of suspicious activity involving a dog in the 400 block of S. Ash St. and checked on a resident of the 100 block of N. Washington St.

Feb. 19 — A Hillsboro woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery and domestic battery after a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. Police investigated a parking complaint at Subway, gave a ride to a patient released from Hillsboro Community Hospital, and checked on a resident of the 300 block of Kennedy St.

Thursday — Police could not find a vehicle that a complainant said contained a dog at Subway. They also talked to a resident about a civil matter and met with Department of Children and Family representatives about a pending investigation.

Friday — Police referred to the county attorney a potential charge of possession of marijuana against driver who was warned for not signaling a turn in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. An official offense report is pending. Another driver was ticketed for having an expired license plate in the 600 block of N. Ash St. A third was warned in the 100 block of W. 2nd St. for not using headlights when required. A semitrailer truck suspected of traffic violations while eastbound on US-56 from McPherson County was not located. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of S. Ash St., were trained by Kansas Highway Patrol to inspect vehicle identification numbers, and talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Saturday — A possible theft at Casey’s General Store remains under investigation. Possible violation of an order of protection was investigated. A driver was ticketed for having no proof of insurance in the 100 block of E. D St. Another was warned for not using a turn signal in the 300 block of N. Ash St.

Sunday — Two people were arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and disorderly conduct after a disturbance in the 300 block of S. Main St. Police went to HCH to investigate a bite from a stray cat. An alarm at Dollar General accidentally was activated by an employee. A report of water leak at 2nd and Lincoln Sts. was investigated.

MARION

Feb. 17 — Two dogs loose in the 200 block of Locust St. were captured by their owner. Suspicious activity was reported but not found.

Feb. 18 — A suicidal person in the 100 block of W. Santa Fe St. went to St. Luke Hospital for evaluation.

Feb. 19 — A driver was warned for having a defective taillight near Main and 2nd Sts.

Thursday — Police talked to someone about trespassing in the 1400 block of Lawrence St. A driver was warned for running a stop sign near Main and Roosevelt Sts. A report of a possible scam in the 100 block of E. Main St. was referred to the sheriff’s office. Police checked on a resident of the 300 block of Locust St.

Friday — Police investigated a fender-bender in the 300 block of Elm St. A dog loose near Sherman and Lincoln Sts. was caught by its owner.

Saturday — Drivers were warned for having defective license plate lights near Main and 1st Sts. and near Main and Lincoln Sts.

Sunday — A suicidal person in the 100 block of W. Santa Fe St. agreed to go with relatives to get help. A dog reported to be loose near Main and Cedar Sts. was not found. Police talked to a resident about paperwork received from the county attorney’s office. Drivers were warned for having a defective taillight near Main and 3rd Sts., for having a defective tag light near US-56 and Timber Rd., and for having a defective headlight near Main and 2nd Sts. No problems were found in checking on a suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of Arbor St.
