ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
April 7 — Police forwarded to the sheriff’s department a resident’s report of finding a dead dog on US-56 near Falcon Rd. A resident reported being harassed on Facebook. A disturbance in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. was determined to have been verbal only. A driver was warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of N. Main St. A disconnected 911 call from Pizza Hut was a misdial. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue.
April 8 — An Ampride employee told police about a theft but instead of seeking an official offense report asked police to tell the thief to leave and never come back. Police helped a farmer corral cattle that escaped on K-15 north of US-56. Police met with residents about a civil property issue and about repossession of a vehicle. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 500 block of E. D St.
April 9 — An alarm in the 300 block of N. Ash St. accidentally was set off by employees. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 200 block of S. Washington St. They found nothing in checking on a report of yelling in the 300 block of N. Main St. Likewise, a vehicle reportedly being driven improperly in the 500 block of E. D St. was not found.
Thursday — A driver doing doughnuts at the county fairgrounds was ticketed for reckless driving. A resident complained about a dog in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter. City streetlights were checked.
Friday — An accident in which a semi-trailer truck hit a parked car in the Bomgaars parking lot was investigated. Police talked to a resident about issues with her car.
Saturday — A dog loose at Main St. and Grand Ave. was picked up by its owner. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 700 and 800 blocks of E. D St. and for running a stop sign at Adams and B Sts.
Sunday — A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Orchard Dr.
MARION
April 7 — Police talked to someone in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St. about an unspecified investigation. Drivers were warned for having a defective license plate light near US-56 and Industrial St. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
April 8 — A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
April 9 — Someone in the 1100 block of E. Main St. reported fraudulent charges on a PayPal account. Drivers were warned for speeding near Main and Lincoln Sts. and near US-56 and Timber Rd.
Thursday — An out-of-control juvenile was reported in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Possible criminal damage to property was reported in the 200 block of Forest St., but no offense report was released. Door-to-door salespeople were told they needed to obtain permits. Drivers were warned for having defective license plate lights near Main St. and Eastmoor Dr. and near US-56 and Timber Rd.
Friday — A driver in the 100 block of S. Thorp St. was ticketed for speeding, having no driver’s license, and interfering with law enforcement. A driver near US-56 and Timber Rd. was ticketed for going 85 mph in a 65-mph zone. A person who reportedly trespassed in the 300 block of Eisenhower St. was not found. Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Industrial St. and near Main and 3rd Sts. and for having a defective headlight near US-56 and Industrial St.
Saturday — Dogs loose in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. were taken to a veterinary clinic. A driver was warned for racing near Lawrence and Coble Sts. Other drivers were warned for having a defective license plate light near US-56 and Timber Rd. and for having a defective headlight near Main and Lincoln Sts. Police administered portable breath tests to detect alcohol use before and after Marion High School’s prom.
Sunday — A report, not released publicly, of a disturbance in the 200 block of Forest St. will be forwarded to the county attorney for possible prosecution. Unspecified property was reported found in the 1100 block of E. Main St. A driver was warned for making an illegal U-turn near Main and Elm Sts.
