ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 28 — Prescription drugs collected during a drug takeback were dropped off with the Drug Enforcement Administration in Wichita. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter and to a parent about concerns regarding her son.

April 29 — A driver was ticketed for having expired registration in the 400 block of N. Main St. Another driver was warned for making an improper turn at Jefferson and D Sts. Speeding was reported near Hillsboro Elementary School. Police talked to a resident about a barking dog, helped another resident at city hall, and found no problems in checking on a third resident.

April 30 — A driver was warned for driving left of center at D and Ash Sts.

Thursday — Police explained traffic safety to a young bike rider and the rider’s parents after the rider nearly was hit by a motorist. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 500 block of E. D St. and for running a stop sign at US-56 and Adams St. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of S. Washington St. Police also stood by during a civil matter in that block, checked on a resident of the Willow Glenn neighborhood, and identified streetlights that weren’t working.

Friday — A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. Police spoke to a resident about a civil matter and helped a motorist at US-56 and Adams St.

Saturday — A mentally distressed person was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital and later transferred to Prairie View mental health center in Newton. A driver was warned for not using headlights in the 100 block of S. Ash St.

Sunday — Police spoke to a resident about a civil matter.

MARION

April 29 — A driver was ticketed for having no liability insurance and no child seatbelt in the 600 block of E. Main St.

April 30 — Police talked to a person about a family medical situation in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd.

May 1 — Another driver was warned for speeding nearTimber Rd.

Friday — Drivers were warned for running a stop sign and having a defective license plate light near Main and Lincoln Sts., for having bad tag lights near Main and Elm Sts. and Main and 5th Sts., for having loud exhaust in the 1000 block of E. Main St., for having a defective headlight near Main and Cedar Sts., and again for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd.

Saturday — A possible assault in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. remains under investigation. Suspicious activity in the 700 block of E. Main St. turned out to be kids playing. Police talked to a person in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St. about missing property. A driver was ticketed for having no liability insurance near 4th and Miller Sts. Other drivers were warned for driving left of center near Denver St. and Eisenhower Dr. and for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.

Sunday — Two dogs loose in the 300 block of Burbridge St. and another loose in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. were not captured. An unwelcome visitor was told to leave a residence in the 200 block of N. 4th St.
