ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 28 — A report of an illegally parked vehicle was investigated.

July 29 — Police patrolled Tabor College on foot, helped the Department of Children and Families with an investigation, and helped a parent locate a child who had not returned home.

July 30 — A trespassing issue was discussed in the 200 block of Date St., and a trespassing notice was issued in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. Drivers were warned for an equipment violation in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. and ticketed for having an expired license in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave.

Thursday — A confused elderly person at Bomgaars was returned to family members. A driver ran into a canopy at Sonic Drive-In. Evidence was transferred to a KBI lab in Great Bend. A report of a break-in proved to be unfounded. A disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of Santa Fe St. was attributed to accidental dialing.

Friday — An altered check was used to buy a chain saw at AgPower. Police helped identify the owner of a vehicle that needed to be moved, briefed a resident on the progress of a case, and found no problems in checking on a resident of the 600 block of W. Grand Ave.

Saturday — Police were unable to catch a dog loose on Main St., stood by during a civil matter in the 300 block of S. Ash St., investigated a disconnected 911 call from the 700 block of E. 1st St., and met with a resident about a landlord-tenant issue. A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Sunday — Police checked residences on a vacation watch list

MARION

July 28 — A dog loose in the 200 block of E. Santa Fe St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. Drivers were warned for passing in a no-passing zone near US-56 and Cedar St. and for having a defective license plate light near US-56 and Timber Rd.

July 29 — Drivers were warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St. and near US-56 and Timber Rd.

July 30 — Police talked to a resident about possible harassment and found no problems when checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 1000 block of E. Main St. Drivers were warned for speeding near Main and 4th Sts. and for not using headlights after dark near Main and Lincoln Sts.

Thursday — A non-injury accident was investigated in the 1500 block of E. Main St. A report of the accident has not yet been released. A driver near Main and Roosevelt Sts. was ticketed for not having child safety restraints, and a passenger was arrested for allegedly violating an order of protection from abuse. A dog loose in the 400 block of Walnut St. was returned to its owner. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. A driver was warned for having a defective tag light near Main and 2nd Sts.

Friday — An animal complaint in the 200 block of W. Santa Fe St. was investigated.

Saturday — Police provided directions to a person looking for St. Mark Catholic Church.

Sunday — Police and deputies stopped a vehicle on US-77 near 170th Rd. after receiving a driving complaint. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 100 block of E. Forest St.
