ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 25 — A door-to-door salesperson at Grand Ave. and Elm St. was told to apply for a permit. Police patrolled Main St. on foot and talked to a resident about a civil matter involving a neighbor.

Aug. 26 — A resident reported a possible mail scam. Police helped a repossession company attempting to find a vehicle. A driver was warned for speeding at Adams and A Sts. A resident talked to police about a civil issue.

Aug. 27 — A report of theft in the 200 block of W. B St. was determined to be a case of miscommunication. A person reported to be trying to get a ride at Casey’s General Store was not found. A resident asked how to obtain an order of protection from abuse. Police attended a lock-down drill at Hillsboro High School.

Thursday — A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of N. Washington St. A driver was warned for having a malfunctioning taillight at US-56 and Orchard Dr.

Friday — A dog was reported loose in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. A driver was warned for having a headlight out at US-56 and Ash St. A driver complained about nearly being run off the road by a white semitrailer truck on US-56 near Galva. A resident reported a possible violation of an order of protection from abuse.

Saturday — A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of N. Birch St. A driver was warned for having a headlight out at Lincoln and D St. Police patrolled Main St. on foot and helped the Pratt County sheriff’s office with an investigation.

Sunday — No problems were found in checking on a report of a person acting suspiciously in the 500 block of W. D St. A driver was helped at US-56 and Jade Rd. A resident talked to police about a civil issue involving a tenant.

MARION

Aug. 25 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Aug. 26 — A dog loose in the 300 block of Locust St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. No problems were found in checking on a complaint from the Oasis special education school. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St., US-56 and Timber Rd., and US-56 and Industrial St. A drug-sniffing dog was deployed but failed to indicate the presence of drugs when another driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Aug. 27 — Police secured the area after a gas leak in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. A disconnected 911 call from St. Luke Hospital was determined to be a misdial.

Thursday — A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Friday — An unspecified matter was investigated at Marion Middle School; the case remains under investigation. A driver was warned for failing to yield at Main and Cedar Sts.

Saturday — St. Luke reported treating a dog bite. Police helped sheriff’s deputies with a traffic stop on Williams St. just north of the courthouse.

Sunday — A ticket for an unspecified moving violation was issued near Casey’s General Store. Police tried to check on a resident of the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St. but could not determine whether anyone was at home. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.
