ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Sept. 1 — Drivers were warned for having defective license plate lights in the 400 block of S. Main St. and at US-56 and Santa Fe St., for having a defective brake light in the 100 block of S. Ash St., for having a defective headlight in the 300 block of N. Ash St., and for driving without headlights when required in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave.

Sept. 2 — Police answered a resident’s questions about vehicle light requirements and warned a driver for having an obstructed license plate and a defective tag light.

Sept. 3 — Police found a loose dog and notified its owner. A driver was warned for speeding on 190th Rd. just west of town.

Thursday — A dog bite was reported. Police worked on removing illegally parked vehicles in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave.

Friday — Vaccination documentation was obtained from the owner of the dog involved in the dog bite Thursday. Police checked on a resident of the 300 block of N. Birch St. Joanna Marie Acevedo, 38, was arrested in the 300 block of E. C St. for failing to use a required anti-drinking ignition interlock. Drivers were warned for not using headlights when required in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave., for having defective tag lights in the 200 block of N. Ash St., for improper lighting and having a defective tag light in the 200 block of S. Ash St., for having a defective taillight in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave., for having defective headlights at D St. and Floral Dr. and at 190th and Kanza Rds., for running a stop sign at D and Lincoln Sts., and for speeding on US-56 near Santa Fe St.

Saturday — An unwanted visitor was told to leave Birchwood Apartments. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of S. Ash St. Police warned several people about curfew in Memorial Park, warned a person mowing a yard at midnight, and provided directions to a driver. Three drivers were warned for running a stop sign at Ash and D Sts. and one more was warned at Ash and A St. Others were warned for having defective tag lights in the 400 block of E. D St. and at US-56 and K-15 / Holly Rd. and for failing to dim headlights in the 200 block of N. Ash St.

Sunday — A driver in the 200 block of W. D St. was ticketed for violating license restrictions. Other drivers were warned for having a defective headlight in the 100 block of W. 3rd St. and for having a defective tag light in the 400 block of S. Main St.

MARION

Sept. 1 — A person sitting on a bridge on Sunflower Rd. south of town turned out to be fishing. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Sept. 2 — A dog loose in the 200 block of Elm St. was returned to its owner. A driver was warned for speeding at Main and 1st Sts. Police talked to a lawn care company about clippings being blown into the street at Casey’s General Store.

Sept. 3 — A complaint at Marion High School was referred to the sheriff’s office because the matter occurred outside city limits. Three drivers were warned for speeding — one at US-56 and Timber Rd. and two at US-56 and Cedar St.

Thursday — Police talked to a juvenile about an unspecified issue of roadway safety in the 1400 block of E. Denver St. An unspecified parking complaint was addressed at Subway. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — A 28-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat, violating an order of protection from abuse, disorderly conduct, and harassment by a telecommunication device in the 900 block of Highland St. A reportedly erratic driver eastbound on US-56 was located, and an ambulance was dispatched to check for a medical issue. Six drivers were warned for equipment violations — two at Main and 5th Sts. and one each at US-56 and Cedar St., Main and Cedar Sts., and US-56 and Industrial St.

Saturday — Noise complaints in the 900 block of Highland St. and 400 block of Grant St. were investigated. Five drivers were warned for equipment violations or speeding — three at US-56 and Timber Rd. and one each at US-56 and Industrial St. and at Main and Santa Fe Sts.

Sunday — Jared Howe, 40, Ramona, was arrested on a warrant from Herington. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at US-56 and Industrial St., US-56 and Timber Rd., and US-56 and Cedar St.
