ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Sept. 15 — A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign at Adams and A Sts. Other drivers were warned for speeding in the 400 block of E. St. and for having illegible registration in the 200 block of N. Washington St. Police provided firearms training and certification for officers in Marion.
Sept. 16 — Dogs that were complained about at Hillsboro Industries were gone by the time police arrived. A complaint about a dog near 1st and Cedar Sts. was resolved by police telling the dog owner about the city’s dog park. Police issued a warning for violation of Memorial Park’s curfew.
Sept. 17 — Police attempted to find a reckless driver reported on US-56 and conducted building inspections for the city’s safety committee. Found property was returned. No problems were noted in checking on a security alarm at a residence in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave.
Thursday — Chickens were reported loose near Wilson and F Sts. An accident in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store was investigated. Police discussed traffic safety with a crew installing cable on 190th Rd. An open door at a business was secured. Police checked streetlights for the city’s electrical department.
Friday — A Wichita resident was scammed into sending money via PayPal while in Hillsboro. Charges of driving with a suspended license will be sought after a 30-year-old was arrested and taken to county jail. A driver was warned for running a stop sign in the 600 block of S. Ash St.
Saturday — A 51-year-old Wichita, resident was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and expired registration, having no vehicle insurance, failing to use a required anti-drinking ignition interlock. A dog that had been turned in to police was returned to its owner. A driver at K-15 / Holly Rd. and US-56 was ticketed for driving with a suspended license. A driver in the 100 block of S. Floral Dr. was ticketed for having an expired license tag and an expired driver’s license. A lost credit card was returned. Police patrolled and controlled traffic for the Arts and Crafts Fair.
Sunday — A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign in the 200 block of W. 3rd St. Other drivers were warned for improper display of a license plate in the 600 block of N. Ash St., for improperly signaling a turn in the 900 block of E. D St., and for an equipment violation in the 300 block of N. Main St.
MARION
Sept. 16 — Police determined nothing criminal occurred during a disturbance in the 300 block of N. 3rd St. Foot patrol proved fruitless after police received a report of a door being shut loudly near Marion Middle School. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 near Timber Rd.
Sept. 17 — A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Cedar St.
Thursday — Police investigated an unspecified report at Marion High School in a case that is listed as ongoing. Drivers were warned for equipment violations twice at US-56 and Cedar St., twice at US-56 and Timber Rd., and once at Main and Santa Fe Sts.
Friday — A caller complained about a driver on Main St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at Main and Thorp Sts. A resident complained about what was determined to be a civil issue.
Saturday — Two dogs loose at Marion Post Office were taken to a veterinary clinic. A disturbance was reported at Country Inn Motel. A caller complained about loud music being played at night in Central Park.
Sunday — A dog was loose in the 300 block of Walnut St. Police patrolled Main St. during Art in the Park
