ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Sept. 22 — Owners were ticketed for allowing three dogs to run loose. A resident complained about stray cats.
Sept. 23 — A person screaming in the 200 block of N. Madison St. was found to be yelling at his dogs. Police worked with a child in need of mental health services and stood by during a civil matter at the police station. A resident asked about the status of his or her driver’s license. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Madison St.
Sept. 24 — Police worked on three shoplifting cases and checked a local address for a missing Salina resident. The missing person was not there. No problems were found in checking on a person sitting on a sidewalk in the 100 block of S. Ash St. Police again stood by during a civil matter at the police station and met with a resident who had questions about an order of protection from abuse. Drivers were ticketed for speeding in the 100 block of S. Ash St. and warned for driving left of center at US-56 and Orchard Dr.
Thursday — A door-to-door salesman reported near the 600 block of Orchard Dr. was not found. An open door in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. was secured. Police helped with notification of a water leak. A disconnected 911 call from Vintage Bank Kansas was determined to be an accidental dial, and no problems were found in checking on an alarm at Ampride. A motorist was warned for driving left of center in the 200 block of E. 3rd St.
Friday — A driver was warned for speeding at 180th and Indigo Rds. A resident had questions about a protection order. Officers participated in Big Truck Night at Hillsboro Memorial Park.
Saturday — A dog loose in the 400 block of W. B St. was picked up by its owner. A driver was warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. Police interceded in a custody dispute in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St., talked to a landlord about evicting a tenant, and provided directions to a motorist at US-56 and Ash St.
Sunday — A person mowing a lawn in the 500 block of E. 1st St. was warned about blowing clippings into the street. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a dog in the 400 block of W. B St. Cows reported to be loose on K-15 were not found
MARION
Sept. 22 — A cat reportedly in distress at Marion Middle School was not found. A dog was reported loose near Sherman and Locust Sts. A gray Dodge van that was the object of a driving complaint was not found. Police checked on an accidentally activated alarm at Carlsons’ Grocery. Drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations — two near US-56 and Cedar St. and one near US-56 and Timber Rd.
Sept. 23 — A dog loose in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. was caught. Police showed their police dog to students at Oasis School. Drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations — one at US-56 and Cedar St. and one in the 200 block of S. 3rd St.
Sept. 24 — Drivers were warned for equipment violations at Main and 1st Sts. and at US-56 and Industrial St.
Thursday — A theft reported at Marion County Ace Hardware remains under investigation. Drivers were warned for speeding or other moving violations at Main and Elm Sts., in the 200 block of S. Roosevelt St., and at US-56 and Industrial St.
Friday — A driver was warned for a moving violation in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Police helped a driver who ran out of fuel east of Marion.
Saturday — A dog owner was ticketed for having a loose dog in the 200 block of E. Santa Fe St. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.
Sunday — A driver was ticketed for failing to yield after hitting a pedestrian at Main and Cedar Sts. No problems were found in responding to a trespassing complaint in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St. A report of theft in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. was determined to be a civil matter. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.
