ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Oct. 13 — Police intervened in a quarrel between a mother and a daughter, who eventually left, in the 400 block of W. B St. A utility was notified about a line down in the 200 block of S. Birch St.

Oct. 14 — A suspicious vehicle reported in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. was not found. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Oct. 15 — A driver was warned for speeding at 190th and Jade Rds. Police talked to the Department of Children and Families about an active investigation. With help from company officials, police were able to locate who sent a text to 911 from near Barkman Honey. Upon investigation, police determined that further investigation was needed because a person who in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. reportedly violated an order of protection from abuse was in Hutchinson at the time. Two men reportedly quarreling near Jefferson and B Sts. were not found. A resident complained about a driver at the city’s sports complex. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter and checked on a person at US-56 and Ash St.

Thursday — Police told a person to clean up a mess made near Grand Ave. and Lincoln St. and arranged for the owner of a vehicle parked at Casey’s General Store to have it moved. A resident complained about social media harassment. A door-to-door salesman in the 100 block of S. Ash St. was told to obtain a city permit. A suspicious person reported in the 100 block of S. Date St. was not found.

Friday — A driver was ticketed for exhibiting speed at Memorial Park. People involved in a quarrel in the 300 block of W. D St. were separated, and the disagreement was resolved. Police helped with traffic control at a vehicle fire on US-56 at Falcon Rd.

Saturday — A driver was ticketed in the 800 block of W. D St. for having expired registration and no liability insurance.

Sunday — A person going door to door in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. was determined to be conducting a federal health survey. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at D and Ash Sts. People who gathered at the sports complex after hours were told to leave.

MARION

Oct. 13 — Police investigated an injury accident at US-56 and Industrial St. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Oct. 14 — A driver was warned for speeding at Main and 1st Sts.

Oct. 15 — Police investigated a parking complaint in the 200 block of Forest St. No problems were found in investigating a disturbance in the Subway parking lot. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations at US-56 and Cedar St.

Thursday — Police are investigating a report of a teacher at Centre school furnishing alcohol to minors. No problems were found when checking on an unspecified complaint in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. An open electric box at Main and 3rd Sts. was secured. Drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations at US-56 and Industrial St.

Friday — Police investigated a report of fraud in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St., but no offense report was released. No problems were found when checking on a report of an intruder in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at Main and Freeborn Sts., Main and Elm Sts., Cedar and Lawrence Sts., and US-56 and Industrial St.

Saturday — Police determined no crime was committed after a possible theft was reported at 56 Express Tire and Service. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at Main and 2nd Sts. and at US-56 and Cedar St.

Sunday — After investigating a report of possible child abuse in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St., police determined that the children did not live there and that the incident occurred outside the county. A dog loose in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. was returned to its owner in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. A vehicle reportedly being driven improperly at the US-56/77/K-150 roundabout was not found. Police helped sheriff’s deputies in dealing with an unspecified disturbance at the county lake. Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main and Roosevelt Sts., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Industrial St.
