ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Oct. 20 — Police met with residents about a property dispute and about a child custody issue.
Oct. 21 — Police met with Department of Children and Families investigators about an active case and with a resident about a civil matter.
Oct. 22 — Drivers were ticketed for an equipment violation at Washington and D Sts. and for having an expired license plate in the 100 block of W. F St. Two other drivers were warned about equipment violations in the 400 block of W. D St. and at US-56 and Adams St. The source of a disconnected 911 call from a cell phone in the 100 block of N. Ash St. was not found. Police met with a resident about a property dispute.
Thursday — A vehicle hit a fire hydrant at Container Services. Drivers were ticketed for an equipment violation and for driving with a suspended license in the 400 block of N. Ash St., for having an expired license plate and no liability insurance in the 500 block of W. D St., and for speeding in the 200 block of S. Ash St. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.
Friday — A person walking on US-56 at Santa Fe St. would not talk to police and continued walking. Police checked on a resident of the 200 block of Elm St. A driver was warned for speeding at D and Washington Sts. Police checked on a driver who ran out of fuel at 190th and Jade Rds.
Saturday — A resident complained about possible stalking. A vehicle reportedly being driven recklessly on US-56 east from Goldenrod Rd. was not found. Drivers were warned for equipment violations at D and Ash Sts. and at D and Washington Sts. and for speeding at Ash and A Sts. Police patrolled the county fairgrounds during a demolition derby.

MARION
Oct. 20 — A situation involving an out-of-control juvenile in the 400 block of S. Coble St. was resolved without incident. A parking complaint at Marion High School was resolved by a driver moving a vehicle. A disconnected 911 call from Marion Elementary School proved to be a misdial. Drivers were warned for speeding and equipment violations at US-56 and Cedar St.
Oct. 21 — Police responded to an unspecified complaint at Oasis special education school and helped firefighters investigate a possible gas leak in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and at US-56 and Timber Rd.
Oct. 22 — A vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of N. 2nd St. St. Luke Hospital reported that a juvenile had been bitten by a dog. A parking complaint in the 1200 block of Commercial St. and an animal complaint at Marion Presbyterian Church were investigated. A driver at Main and Lincoln Sts. and two at US-56 and Industrial St. were warned for equipment violations.
Thursday — Two dogs loose in the 100 block of N. 1st St. were picked up by police while investigating a report of a dog loose in the 300 block of Grant St. Police investigated an accident in the 100 block of N. Cedar St., but a formal state accident report was not created. Police helped Hillsboro police by providing advanced testing techniques in detecting drunk drivers. Two drivers at US-56 and Industrial St. and another at US-56 and Timber Rd. were warned for equipment violations.
Friday — Two drivers at US-56 and Industrial St. and another at Main and Elm Sts. were warned for equipment violations. The department’s drug-sniffing dog failed to indicate the presence of drugs at another traffic stop.
Saturday — Owners of 56 Express Tire and Service were notified that a trespasser had been contacted. Drivers were warned for speeding in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. and at Main and Elm Sts. Police participated in Falloween events. At the request of the sheriff’s office, the department’s drug-sniffing dog was used at a traffic stop at the US-50/77 roundabout near Florence; no results were released.
Sunday — The department’s drug-sniffing dog was used at US-56 and Cedar St. where the sheriff’s department arrested vehicle occupants on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.
