ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Nov. 3 — A golf cart was inspected for use on city streets. Police completed a background check on a business’ potential employee.

Nov. 4 — Police helped sheriff’s deputies direct traffic on US-56.

Nov. 5 — A driver backed into a parked car at Hillsboro Senior Center. The owner of a dog loose in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was ticketed, and a driver in the 500 block of W. 2nd St. was ticketed for having excessively tinted windows.

Thursday — Police provided active-shooter training for Tabor College employees. The owner of a dog loose in the 300 block of S. Adams St. was ticketed. Driivers were ticketed for speeding and exhibiting speed in the 400 block of E. B St. and for having an expired tag and no insurance in the 600 block of Orchard Dr. Police stood by during a child custody exchange and checked streetlights for the city electric department.

Friday — A school vehicle returning from a football game hit a deer on US-56 near K-15 / Holly Rd. Police monitored traffic backed up on E. D St. for turkey dinner sales at Hillsboro United Methodist Church A dog was reported loose in the 300 block S. Date St. Police helped a resident recover a lost cell phone.

Saturday — A resident complained about being stalked on social media.

Sunday — A reportedly suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of S. Ash St. was not found.

MARION

Nov. 3 — A possibly drunken driver reported to be leaving That One Place was not found. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. Police helped deputies at a wreck on 190th Rd. west of K-256. No report of the accident was released by the sheriff’s department. As reported last week, an unspecified victim who injured his head was taken to St. Luke Hospital by relatives after being evaluated by Marion ambulance attendants.

Nov. 4 — A resident told police about a wreck a month earlier, but no report was created because it was unclear what happened and whether it happened in Marion. Police helped Peabody police with an investigation and helped deputies with a accident east of town on K-256. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Nov. 5 — A sick cat in the 800 block of S. Roosevelt St. was euthanized. Police showed off their drug-sniffing police dog at Marion Middle School and helped deputies with another accident, a report of which has not been released, on K-256. A wreck at Main and Roosevelt Sts. also remains under investigation as does a report of possible fraud in the 500 block of N. Coble St. Drivers were warned about equipment violations at 3rd and Library Sts. and at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Thursday — A person reported being bitten by a dog in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Police responded to a fire alarm later determined to be false at Orsted’s Sunflower Wind facility on N. Roosevelt St. A complaint of domestic battery in the county was turned over to the sheriff’s office.

Friday — Police helped deputies with a traffic stop on US-77. Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at Main St. and Locust, Walnut, and Thorp Sts.

Saturday — Five drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd.

Sunday — A driver stopped for speeding in one of four traffic stops on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd. was arrested on an outstanding warrant and suspicion of interfering with police. Other drivers were warned for equipment violations. Police helped deputies with a traffic stop on U.S.-50 near east of Florence. Police helped with an ambulance call at Homestead Senior Residences.
