ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Nov. 10 — A resident expressed concern about threats received over social media. An alarm at Dollar General proved to have been accidental. A driver was ticketed for having expired registration in the 200 block of E. D St.
Nov. 11 — Two hit-and-run accidents were investigated. A door-to-door salesperson for Bright Speed Internet was told to get a permit. A resident complained about Internet service. Drivers were ticketed for having expired registration at Oak and D Sts., in the 400 block of E. D St., and in the 400 block of Orchard Dr. A driver was ticketed for speeding in the 200 block of N. Ash St.
Nov. 12 — A resident reported suspicious activity on a debit card. A loose dog picked up in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. was returned to its owner.
Thursday — Police met with a school official about truancy.
Friday — A cow reported to be in the roadway at US-56 and K-15 / Holly Rd. was not found. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Main St.
Saturday — A driver was arrested after her vehicle was stopped for having an allegedly fictitious license plate. A trespassing issue was reported at Ampride.
Sunday — A car-deer accident on US-56 was investigated. Police also investigated a dog complained in the 100 block of N. Birch St., helped a driver remove an illegal license plate cover, and responded with Hillsboro ambulance to a medical call in the 300 block of S. Washington St.
MARION
Nov. 10 — No vehicle was found in checking on an automated report of a wreck near Upland and Gilham Rds. at the county lake. A deer accident near there was investigated the night before by sheriff’s deputies. Two dogs reported loose near Locust and Denver Sts. were not found.
Nov. 11 — Police and sheriff’s deputies found safely at home a person reported to be suicidal and driving while impaired at the county lake.
Nov. 12 — Police helped conduct a lockdown drill at Marion Middle School. A driver about whom a resident had complained was found and checked on. Police also received a complaint about an eastbound driver on Main St. Warnings for speeding and an equipment violation were issued on US-56 at Timber Rd. and at Cedar St.
Thursday — Police helped control a juvenile at Oasis special education school and helped ambulance personnel after a woman fainted at Carlsons’ Grocery. A dog was reported loose near Animal Health Center. Police issued a warning to a driver about whom a citizen had complained at Roosevelt and Weldon Sts. Two other drivers were stopped for speeding on US-56 and Timber Rd. and US-56 and Cedar St. One was warned. The other was ticketed for going 105 mph.
Friday — Police helped sheriff’s deputies investigate injury accidents at US-56 and K-256 / 190th Rd. and at 150th and Sunflower Rds. Official reports of the accidents have not yet been released by the sheriff’s department. Two loose dogs were taken to a veterinary clinic. A report of a loud noise like an explosion near the Marion VFM Post was investigated. A driver was warned for an equipment violation on US-56 at Industrial St.
Saturday — Police helped deputies investigate an injury accident on K-150 near Alfalfa Rd. An official report of the accident has not yet been released by the sheriff’s department. Two drivers were stopped at US-56 and Industrial St. and one at Freeborn and Denver Sts. Warnings were issued for speeding and two equipment violations.
Sunday — Police helped deputies with a missing person investigation in Florence that might explain why Marion ambulance was told to stand by there.
