ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Feb. 23 — Door-to-door salespeople in the 400 block of S. Adams St. were told they needed a city permit. Drivers were warned for not using headlights at Grand Ave. and Date St. and in the 500 block of E. D St. Police helped a resident with a water leak, talked to a resident about a civil matter, met with Department of Children and Families personnel about an investigation, helped the Kansas Bureau of Investigation with a different investigation, and investigated both a parking complaint at Tabor College and a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Cedar St.
Feb. 24 — A child who walked away from a residence was located within 15 minutes. A driver was warned about having a headlight out at D and Jefferson Sts. Police talked to a resident about a harassment complaint in the 200 block of S. Madison St. and provided traffic control for a broken-down semi-trailer truck at Ash St. and US-56.
Feb. 25 — A transient passing through Hillsboro did not want help. Police continued to help KBI agents with an investigation. Driver was warned for running a stop sign in the 100 block of W. Grand Ave. and excessively tinted windows at 170th and Indigo Rds.
Thursday — A driver was ticketed for not using a child restraint in the 700 block of E. C St. Other drivers were warned about excessively tinted windows in the 100 block of W. F St. and for speeding in the 300 block of N. Adams St. Police continued to assist in a DCF investigation.
Friday — A resident reported damage to her properly. A disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of S. Main St. was investigated.
Saturday — An unwanted visitor left a location in the 200 block of S. Ash St. A dog was reported loose in the 400 block of W. Grand Ave. Drivers were warned for an improper lane change at US-56 and Adams St. and for loud music at 1st and Ash Sts. Police provided a funeral escort.
Sunday — A vehicle reportedly being driven improperly on K-15 from Durham was not found. A harassment complaint from the 400 block of N. Ash St. was investigated.
MARION
Feb. 23 — Police dealt with a trespassing complaint in the 1000 block of Melvin St.m unspecified complaints at Oasis special education school and Marion Middle School, and an issue involving a neighbor who complained to the sheriff’s office. A vehicle near 180th Rd. and US-77 was checked at the request of the sheriff’s office. No problems were found in checking on a panic alarm activated at the courthouse.
Feb. 24 — A dog loose in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was captured. Police talked to a resident about an unspecified complaint but found no problems. Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations or ticketed for having expired registration in five traffic stops at Main and 4th St., Santa Fe and 3rd Sts., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Timber Rd.
Feb. 25 — Suspicion activity was reported but not found at Casey’s General Store, where two dogs also reported to be loose. Kids reportedly riding four-wheelers on Locust St. were not found. A driver was warned for texting while driving at Main and Lincoln Sts.
Thursday — Kids reportedly were driving erratically at the football field. A resident had questions about an order of protection. An accident near 190th near Quail Creek Rds. was investigated, but no report was released. A driver was warned about unspecified moving violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.
Friday — A resident again had questions about an order of protection. A driver was warned for an equipment violation and another driver was tricketed for driving without a license at US-56 and Timber Rd.
Saturday — A aggravated burglary remains under investigation. A caller complained about a driver near Main and 3rd Sts. Another driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.
Sunday — Drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at US-56 and Cedar St.
