ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
March 16 — Two wrecks were investigated. A driver was ticketed for running a stop signed in the 400 block of N. Ash St. Police backed up sheriff’s deputies at several traffic stops and issued warnings for equipment and driving violations at stops in Hillsboro. Ashley L. Foudray, 34, Hillsboro, was arrested on a theft warrant from McPherson County. She was booked into Marion County Jail and released less than an hour later after posting $500 cash bail.
March 17 — Someone stole the identity of a resident of the 300 block of S. Cedar St. and used it to take out a student loan. A residential burglary also was investigated, but an offense report in that case has not yet been completed.
March 18 — A deer carcass was removed from Indigo Rd. half a mile north of the Harvey County line. Police stood by during a child exchange at the police station and helped a resident deal with a sick skunk in the 300 block of N. Elm St.
Thursday — Several tickets were issued for dogs loose near Lincoln and B Sts. Police checked on a resident of the 200 block of S. Madison St. An unattended death in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave. was attributed to natural causes. A fire in a yard at Grand Ave. and Lincoln St. was determined to have been properly permitted. Police searched for a person reportedly suffering a mental health issue.
Friday — No problems were found in checking on a motion alarm activated at Casey’s General Store. Police provided traffic control for meal pickup at Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Several drivers were warned for equipment violations.
Saturday — Police talked to several juveniles playing in a street, met with a resident of the 300 block of N. Washington St. about a possibly sick skunk, and checked on a resident of the 500 block of S. Washington St.
Sunday — A resident reported a phone scam. Another complained about noise from a neighboring apartment. A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of S. Date St. Police backed up deputies on several traffic stops in the county and warned a driver in Hillsboro for speeding.
MARION
March 16 — A dog was reported loose at an unspecified location. Police helped a driver who ran out of fuel and checked on a resident of the 1500 block of E. Main St.
March 17 — A person also wanted in connection with a burglary investigation in Hillsboro was arrested on drug charges at Casey’s General Store. A fraudulent debit card also was reported to have been used at Casey’s. St. Luke Hospital reported treating a dog bite. A disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. was investigated.
March 18 — Leaking anhydrous ammonia tanks at Cooperative Grain and Supply were secured. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.
Thursday — A domestic disturbance in the 900 block of Hudson St. was investigated. Drivers were warned for speeding and improper passing at US-56 and Timber Rd. Police helped sheriff’s deputies investigate an unspecified complaint at Marion County Lake.
Friday — Police were called to St. Luke Hospital to help deal with an aggressive person. A driving complaint was investigated. One driver was warned for speeding and three others for equipment violations in traffic stops at US-56 and Cedar St., US-56 and Timber Rd., and 3rd and Main Sts.
Saturday — A hit-and-run accident in the 900 block of Melvin St. was investigated. Theft of four tires was reported at 56 Express Tire and Service. A dog was reported loose at an unspecified location. Officers conducted four traffic stops. Three drivers were warned for equipment violations and a fourth was investigated regarding a driving complaint in traffic stops at Main and Freeborn Sts., US-56 and Timber Rd., Cedar and Sherman Sts., and US-56 and Cedar St.
Sunday — A driver was warned for an equipment violation and another was ticketed for having no proof of liability insurance at US-56 and Cedar St.
