ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 6 — No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of S. Main St. Police helped a sheriff’s deputy at a traffic stop at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

April 7 — A fender-bender in the Dollar General parking lot was investigated. Police help find the owner of cows loose near US-56 and K-15 and checked on a resident of the 100 block of N. Lincoln St.

April 8 — Police checked on a dog in the 300 block of S. Date St. and again helped deputies with a traffic stop, this one at C and Ash Sts.

Thursday — Warnings for equipment and driving violations were issued in an unspecified number of traffic stops. Police again checked on a resident of the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. and again helped deputies, this time at US-56 and Jade Rd.

Friday — Routine activities.

Saturday — Police met with family members bitten by a family dog. A resident reported a possible theft.

Sunday — Police helped a homeowner stuck on his roof after his ladder blew down. A barking dog in the 600 block of S. Lincoln St. was taken inside. Police checked on a suspicious vehicle in the Hillsboro Community Hospital parking lot and determined that a report of another suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. was unfounded. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

MARION

April 6 — Police determined that no crime had been committed after checking on a resident’s report of being threatened. A cat was reported missing. Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was used at a traffic stop by sheriff’s deputies near 2nd and Maple Sts. in Peabody; the sheriff’s office has not released a report about the stop. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

April 7 — An out-of-control juvenile at Oasis special education school was calmed without incident. Four drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd.

April 8 — Police met with children interested in law enforcement. A golf cart reportedly was being driven recklessly in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.

April 9 — A report of a possible threat remains under investigation. No problems were found in checking on a report of a suspicious person near the Marion Elementary School playground. A dog reportedly loose near St. Luke Hospital was not found, nor was a vehicle that reportedly was hit at Marion Cemetery. A possible scam was reported. Police helped sheriff’s deputies at a traffic stop on US-77 near 170th Rd. and helped Hillsboro police administer an advanced drunken-driving test. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd.

April 10 — Police help deputies deal with a disturbance in Peabody; no report on the disturbance has been released. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at Denver St. and Eisenhower Dr.

April 11 — Three drivers were warned for moving or equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd. and at Coble and Lawrence Sts. Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was used at the Cedar St. stop and at a stop by sheriff’s deputies at US-56 and Timber Rd. No reports on the results of those stops have been released.
