ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

April 27 — Police arranged peddler permits for roofing and construction companies, helped sheriff’s deputies with an accident at US-56 and Goldenrod Rd., heard a trash complaint at 2nd and Birch Sts., discussed a civil issue at Salem Home, and looked into a report of a suspicious person walking on a path in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St.

April 28 — Police checked installation of a child’s car seat.

April 29 — Residents complained about trash in a yard and about loud music in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. A driver was warned for failing to signal a turn near Casey’s General Store. Another was warned for speeding in the 900 block of S. Ash St. Police conferred with Department of Children and Families personnel about an investigation.

Thursday — A fender-bender in the Hillsboro High School parking lot was investigated. A resident reported a possible scam. Police helped Salem Home personnel deal with a patient. A driver was warned for speeding at D and Wilson Sts.

Friday — Two residents were arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana, THC vape cartridges, and drug paraphernalia. Police investigated a report of a person yelling in the 400 block of N. Ash St. A driver on 190th Rd. near Jade Rd. was warned for having excessively tinted windows.

Saturday — A hit-and-run in the 300 block of S. Adams St. was investigated. A driver in the 400 block of Orchard Dr. was ticketed for having no muffler. Police helped sheriff’s deputies execute a search warrant in Peabody.

Sunday — Juveniles from rural Hillsboro who a few weeks ago were reported ringing doorbells in the middle of the night were caught driving a four-wheeler at 12:30 a.m. in an alley in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. They were turned over to their parents. A reportedly suspicious vehicle driving in alleys with flashing lights was determined to be mapping Atmos Energy gas lines.

MARION

April 27 — Trespassing was reported in the 700 block of S. Freeborn St. Police helped Chase County deputies contact a vehicle owner. A driver was warned for an unspecified moving violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.

April 28 — Police helped sheriff’s deputies serve an arrest warrant in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Timber Rd.

April 29 — A juvenile was taken into protective custody for undisclosed reasons. A driver was warned for an equipment violation on US-56 at Cedar St.

Thursday — The owner of an allegedly vicious dog loose in the 400 block of Walnut St. was ticketed. Police checked on the welfare of a person at the VFW trailer park.

Friday — A dog was reported loose near Spur Ridge Vet Hospital. Police couldn’t find a vehicle the driving of which a resident had complained about. Police checked on a resident at Homestead Senior Residences and helped sheriff’s deputies deal with an impaired driver at US-56 and Nighthawk Rd. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations and one for an unspecified moving violation at Main and 1st Sts., US-56 and Cedar St., and US-56 and Timber Rd.

Saturday — A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd. Police helped sheriff’s deputies execute a search warrant in Peabody.
