ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 3 — Eric M. Hale, 39, Hillsboro, was arrested on a Harvey County warrant for failing to appear in court. He was released the next day after posting a $1,750 bond. The owner of two dogs loose at Grand Ave. and Lincoln St. was ticketed. A motorcycle license plate was reported lost. A chainsaw was found at Elm St. and Floral Dr. A report of a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. was investigated. A semi-trailer truck reportedly being driven recklessly on US-56 was not located. Nor was a driver who reportedly was slumped over in a vehicle at Fleet Fuel’s Sinclair station.

Aug. 4 — A verbal disturbance in the 100 block of N. Washington St. ended when one of the quarreling people left. A report of a suspicious person near Ampride was investigated. Police trained Tabor College resident assistants.

Aug. 5 — A license plate was reported lost or stolen between Hutchinson and Hillsboro. A resident reported loosing keys. Police talked to another resident about an order of protection from abuse. A driver was warned for speeding in the 800 block of E. D St. A resident complained about speeding and loud exhaust in the 200 block of S. Madison St. A driver reportedly speeding at more than 100 mph was not found. Police helped Harvey County sheriff’s deputies with an investigation.

Thursday — Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Friday — A dog bite was reported in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. A business owner complained about someone using his trash bin. A driver was ticketed for having no license at Ash St. and Orchard Dr.

Saturday — A passenger was warned for riding in the bed of a pickup truck at Main and 1st Sts. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Sunday — A door that sounded an alarm at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts was secured, and nothing was found to have been disturbed. A resident complained about parking in the 100 block of N. Washington St. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

MARION

Aug. 3 — Police backed up Hillsboro police at a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. in Hillsboro. Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St., and at Main and Lincoln Sts.

Aug. 4 — Andrew M. Pratt, 35, Chanute, was arrested on US-56 north of Marion on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and transporting an open container of alcohol; he was released 5½ hours later after posting a $2,500 bond. Two other drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. or Timber Rd. A dog was reported loose in the 200 block of N. 4th St. Police backed up sheriff’s deputies in checking on a cell phone alert of a fall at Marion County Park and Lake and on a burglar alarm just beyond the east edge of town on K-256. They also backed up Hillsboro police at a disturbance in the 100 block of N. Washington St.

Aug. 5 — A report of a disturbance in the 500 block of N. Coble St. was investigated. Police again backed up sheriff’s deputies in checking on a burglar alarm just beyond the east edge of town on K-256. Two drivers were warned — one for speeding, the other for an equipment violation — on US-56 at Timber Rd.

Thursday — Police instructed children riding bicycles on Main St. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations, one at Main and Thorp Sts. and one at US-56 and Cedar St.

Friday — A resident complained about a go-cart being driven in the 200 block of Locust St. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd.

Saturday — A dog was reported loose in the 200 block of Main St. Police checked on a resident of the 300 block of Willard St. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations on Main St., one at Lincoln St. and the other at 5th St.

Sunday — A disturbance in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. was investigated. Police also stood by there during a civil matter. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St.
