ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 10 — Police received a complaint about a dog in the 300 block of S. Ash St., took a report of a dog bite at Hillsboro Community Hospital, and checked on a Tabor College student.

Aug. 11 — Main St. was patrolled on foot. Speeds in the 200 block of S. Main St. were checked with radar. Police talked to a resident about a civil issue.

Aug. 12 — Police found the owner of a dog loose inside Dollar General, returned a found bicycle to its owner, helped Dickinson County with an investigation, investigated a wreck in the 600 block of W. Grand Ave., and checked inside Casey’s General Store after a detector set off an alarm.

Thursday — Downtown again was patrolled on foot. A vehicle stalled at Ash and D Sts. was pushed out of the road. Dogs were reported loose at Main and D Sts. A resident lodged a parking complaint in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. A cell phone’s automatic detection of a fall in the 200 block of S. Ash St. was investigated.

Friday — A transient in the 500 block Western Heights Circle was walking to Great Bend and did not want help from police. A resident complained about a parking issue complaint. Police met with a resident about a harassment complaint and met with another about damage to a vehicle. A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Saturday — A driver was warned for making a J turn at Main St. and Grand Ave. Police talked to a resident about a possible scam and talked to a resident about a harassment complaint.

Sunday — Police talked to a resident about dog ordinances after receiving complaints about his dog.

MARION

Aug. 10 — A hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. and a harassment complaint in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. were investigated. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar and Industrial Sts.

Aug. 11 — Residents of Homestead Senior Residences were evacuated after city crews ruptured a natural gas line. A driver was warned for an equipment violation on US-56 at Timber Rd.

Aug. 12 — Dollar General lodged a trespassing complaint. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations on US-56 at Cedar St. and at Upland Rd.

Thursday — Vandalism at Marion High School and along a railing at Central Park remains under investigation. Residents lodged parking complaints in the 200 block of N. 4th St. and the 300 block of E. Santa Fe St. and a noise complaint on Grant St. A resident reported losing a license plate.

Friday — Andria R. Daugherty, 44, McPherson, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stimulants and drug paraphernalia and driving while her license was canceled, suspended, or revoked after Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog was deployed at a traffic stop at US-56 and Ash St. in Hillsboro. Damage to a yard in the 300 block of E. Santa Fe St. was reported. Police also took a report of a possible fraud. A dog reported to be loose near Washington and 2nd Sts. was not found. Two drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — Police took a report of a runaway juvenile and warned three drivers for equipment violations or speeding at US-56 and Cedar St. and at Main and Vine Sts.

Sunday — Three drivers were warned for equipment violations or speeding on US-56 at Timber Rd.
