ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 17 — An open door in the 200 block of Floral Dr. was checked. A resident reported a possible scam. Police helped Inman police with an investigation and talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Aug. 18 — A person illegally dumping at Hillsboro’s tree dump was identified, and dumped items were removed. Police determined that a person reported to be acting suspiciously in the 700 block of S. Ash St. had been involved in an accident south of town; the person was taken to NMC Health, Newton.

Aug. 19 — At relatives’ request, police checked on a resident who had fallen at a home in the 500 block of S. Adams St.; the resident was taken to NMC Health. Police talked to a resident about possible harassment and helped Harvey County deputies with an investigation. Two drivers were warned — one for an insecure load in the 300 block of E. D St. and the other for running a stop sign at Ash St. and Grand Ave.

Thursday — A dog was reported loose in the 200 block of N. Ash St.

Friday — A 38-year-old Hillsboro woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and she hit a utility pole in the 500 block of S. Main St. A resident reported theft of $300 in the 400 block of W. B St. No broken windows were found in responding to an alarm about glass breaking at Sonic Drive-In. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. Police talked to a resident about possible harassment. A reportedly suspicious person near Country Haven Inn was not found. Drivers were warned for having an obstructed license plate at C and Adams St. and for having a cracked windshield at D St. and Floral Dr. A vehicle reportedly being driven improperly in Memorial Park was not found.

Saturday — A 47-year-old Marion man was arrested on suspicion of not using a required anti-drinking ignition interlock at US-56 and Ash St.

Sunday — Residents complained about dogs on Ash St. and in the 400 block of S. Birch St. A driver was warned for speeding at Adams and C Sts. O’Reilly Auto Parts was secured after an alarm there.

MARION

Aug. 17 — Two drivers were warned, one for speeding and one for an equipment violation, at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Aug. 18 — Police investigated a disturbance in the 100 block of Washington St. and backed up Hillsboro police at a possible threat and at a trespassing complaint in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. in Hillsboro.

Aug. 19 — A resident complained about a dog in the 100 block of S. Freeborn St. Three drivers were warned for speeding and one for an equipment violation on US-56 at Cedar St. and Timber Rd. and at Main and Elm Sts.

Thursday — Police backed up a sheriff’s deputy at a traffic stop at Cedar and Roosevelt Sts. and in dealing with a suicidal person west of town. Two drivers were warned for speeding on US-56 at Cedar St.

Friday — An unwanted visitor was told not to visit a home in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. Police backed up Hillsboro police at a traffic accident and drunken driving arrest in the 400 block of S. Main St. in Hillsboro and at a report of a burglary in the 400 block of B St. in Hillsboro. Two drivers were warned about equipment violations in traffic stops at US-56 and Cedar St. and at Main and Vine Sts.

Saturday — Police contacted a person sleeping in Central Park. Three drivers were warned for equipment violations and one for speeding in traffic stops at US-56 and Cedar St. and in the 400 block of N. Cedar St.

Sunday — A person was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after a disturbance in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at Main St. and Eastmoor Dr.
