Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Aug. 26 – A wallet was returned to its owner. A parking complaint was reported in the 400 block of S. Adam St. An illegal eviction reported by an individual was determined to be a civil matter. A possible identity theft was reported in the 700 block of E. F St. A dog complaint was reported in the 400 block of S. Main St. A verbal dispute was investigated in the 300 block of S. Birch St. A physical confrontation was reported in the 100 block of S. Main St., but neither party decided to press charges.

Aug. 27 – A traffic complaint was reported near Hillsboro Elementary School. A possible vandalism was investigated in the 300 block of S. Ash St. A dog complaint was reported in the 300 block of S. Washington St. A domestic disturbance was investigated in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. A suspicious vehicle was investigated in the 400 block of S. Date St.

Aug. 28 – A parking complaint was investigated in the 600 block of N. Ash St.

Thursday – A suspicious package investigated at Tabor College was found to be safe to open. An unauthorized vehicle was reported in the 500 block of S. Lincoln St. A dog complaint was reported in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. A bicyclist received assistance on 190th Rd. while riding in a thunderstorm.

Friday – An individual was reported driving an unauthorized vehicle.

Marion

Aug. 26 – A motorist was warned near Main and Elm Sts. for no tail light.

Aug. 27 – A motorist received assistance with a disabled vehicle near Industrial Rd. and US-56. A report of a potentially wanted person was investigated. An individual was warned for mowing grass into the street in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. Motorists were warned for a headlight out near Upland Rd. and US-56, and for speeding in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St.

Aug. 28 – A possible hit-and-run accident was investigated in the 800 block of Maple St. A loose dog was returned to its owner in the 100 block of Billings St. A person met with officers in reference to trespassing in the 100 block of Eisenhower Dr.

Thursday – A non-injury accident on private property was investigated in the 1000 block of E. Main St. A person reported being scratched by a stray cat in the 100 block of Billings St. A possible theft was reported in the 400 block of S. 4th St., and the property was later returned. A runaway juvenile reported in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. was found moments later. A welfare check was provided in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Friday – A verbal disturbance was investigated in the 400 block of S. 4th St. but no action was taken. A gas skip was investigated in the 1000 block of E. Main St. A possible theft was investigated at Dollar General, but the customer had paid. A possible shoplifting incident was investigated, but it was an employee error. Five motorists were warned for traffic violations.

Saturday – A motorist was warned for operating a motorcycle with no registration in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. An elderly man was reported slumped over on a bench in the 300 block of E. Main St. but no one was found. Possible shots fired were reported in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St., but no evidence of activity was found. A motorist received a citation for speeding near US-56 and Ridge Rd. Six motorists were warned for traffic violations.
