Incident reports


Nov. 7 — Animal control duties and a check of businesses were performed. Warnings for no trailer lights and registration were issued.

Nov. 8 — A non-injury accident was investigated.

Nov. 9 — A verbal disturbance involving a mother and daughter in the 400 block of S. Main St. and a report of an active physical domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend was investigated. Warnings for failing to stop at a stop sign and improper lights to rear were issued. A traffic complaint in the 400 block of W. D St. was investigated.

Thursday — Reports of a dog-at-large, a Tabor College student being harassed, and a non-jury truck vs. deer accident were investigated. A warning for unlawful rider on US-56 was issued.

Friday — Reports of possible child endangerment and illicit drug use and sales were investigated. A private property dispute, car vs. deer accident, fire, and reckless driver in the 300 block of S. Washington St. were investigated.

Saturday — A driver was arrested for allegedly possessing illicit drugs with a motor vehicle. A citation for no child restraint and warning for equipment violations were issued. A report of a gas leak was investigated; Hillsboro Fire Department was contacted.

Sunday — Reports of child neglect and a domestic disturbance were investigated. Officers assisted the sheriff’s department with serving an illicit drug warrant in the 300 block of N. Washington St. A dead deer was removed from the roadway at US-56 and Kanza Rd. A warning for non-working tail light was issued.


Nov. 7 — Possible damage to a vehicle was investigated. A child seat was installed, and a warning for no tag light was issued on US-56 near milepost 304.

Nov. 8 — A speeding citation near US-56 and Cedar St. was issued. A foot patrol of downtown businesses was performed.

Nov. 9 — A complaint of yard waste being blown in the roadway in the 1500 block of Lawrence St. was investigated. A vehicle parked in a no parking zone was investigated; an attempt was made to contact the owner.

Friday — A report of a vehicle with an unrestrained juvenile was investigated. Officers ate lunch with Oasis students. Warnings for numerous traffic infractions were issued. The sheriff’s department was assisted with a car vs. deer accident on US-56 near milepost 300.

Saturday — A speeding citation was issued on US-56 near milepost 302. A warning for no seatbelt was issued near Thorp and Main Sts. Two warnings for equipment violations also were issued. Suspicious activity near US-56 and Eisenhower Rd. was investigated. Canine officer Legion assisted Hillsboro Police officers with a traffic stop.

Sunday — An officer was flagged down by a citizen who was concerned her neighbor’s cat might have become caught in window blinds; the owner was contacted and the cat was OK. A door-to-door salesman was investigated and informed of the need to have a license. A disturbance in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was investigated. A warning for improper display of vehicle registration on US-56 near milepost 304 was issued.


Nov. 7 — Police conducted a military records check. A report was taken of criminal damage to property.

Nov. 8 — Police took a report of burglary to a storage shed at a residence. A subject with a suspended Honduras driver’s license was cited for speeding, no insurance, and driving while suspended. A resident was cited for a dog-at-large in the 400 block of Elm St..

Nov. 9 — Police opened an investigation on a complaint of an inoperable nuisance vehicle.

Thursday — Officers responded to a domestic violence incident. The investigation is complete and charges will be filed for domestic battery and child endangerment. A report of theft from a motor vehicle was taken. An outside assist to Newton Police Department was provided in a domestic violence case.

Friday — A report was taken of a suspicious vehicle. The case is under investigation. Officers opened a child-in-need-of-care case.
