April 2 — A harassment complaint in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. was investigated.
April 3 — A remote auto monitoring device was activated in the 100 block of N. Main St.; the owner had accidentally activated it. A propane explosion at 300 block of S. Date St., traffic accident at Ash and D Sts., and noise complaint in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. were investigated.
April 4 — A truancy report in the 300 block of N. Birch St. was investigated. Newton Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department were assisted with three separate arrests. An accident near 150th and Nighthawk Rds. was investigated.
April 5 — Newton Police Department was assisted with an investigation. McPherson County was assisted with an accident involving two semi trucks on US-56.
Thursday — A truancy complaint in the 300 block of N. Birch St. and a dog running free in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. were investigated.
Friday — McPherson County was assisted with a non-injury accident on US-56. A commercial alarm in the industrial park, report of an underage smoker in an alley in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St., and a report of a reckless driver on US-56 were investigated.
Saturday — A domestic disturbance was investigated and a welfare check was performed in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St.
Marion
April 3 — A warning for an adult not wearing a seatbelt in a school zone was issued. A possible scam in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St., a harassment complaint in the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St., and an open door in Marion Cemetery were investigated.
April 4 — The welfare of a dog was checked.
April 5 — Two citations for failure to wear seatbelt in the 1200 block of Main St. were issued. Officers spoke to a citizen whose rabbit had been killed by a dog. Debris in the roadway in the 1500 block of E. Main St. was removed.
Thursday — A semi truck stuck near the US-77/US-56 roundabout was assisted. Two large dogs running free near Cedar and Main Sts. were captured and taken to Animal Health Center. A speeding warning near 5th and Main Sts. was issued.
Friday — Officers checked streetlights for city crews. Traffic control was provided for Marion Fire Department while fire fighters fought a vehicle on fire near US-56 on Sunrise Rd. A report of a door-to-door salesman in the 1000 block of E. Main St. was investigated; the salesman was not located. Marion’s canine team assisted Hillsboro police. A warning for no trailer lights near US-56 and Eisenhower Rd. was issued.
Saturday — A report of a vehicle parked in a handicapped space was investigated. Warnings for no right or center mirror on a vehicle in the 100 block of S. Coble St. and warnings for no seatbelt and an obstructed tag were issued.
Marion
Disorderly conduct, consumption of alcohol in public
Eric J. Williams, 29, Marion, and Donald J. Miller, 26, Florence, were arrested at 2:20 p.m. Saturday when officers investigated a report of a fight at 1225 E. Main St. Both suspects were arrested after police interviewed them and a witness.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol in a public place and Miller was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
Officer Duane McCarty’s police report indicated that both men were suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

April 4 — A military record check was performed.
Thursday — A report of aggravated assault and battery that allegedly happened at several places within city limits was investigated; Police chief Bruce Burke said no arrests were made and the case is still under investigation.
