Protester says she helps people

Staff writer

Kathy Heart of rural Hillsboro spent most of Nov. 3 trying to persuade people that COVID-19 vaccines aren’t safe.

She stood at the intersection of Prairie Pointe and E. C St., which drivers had to pass to reach the clinic, holding a sign that read, “COVID info please stop here.”

Many did, and Hart gave out information on the Liberty Counsel law firm and attorney Matt Staver’s website.

Most took the slip of paper Hart gave them. One woman tried to turn over her vaccination consent form to Hart. Others listened for a bit and drove on down the street.

“I am letting people know about Liberty Counsel,” Hart said.

Staver, from Orlando, Florida, has filed a class-action lawsuit opposing vaccine mandates. The Liberty Counsel website displays information about his suit and other suits filed. It also solicits donations to pay for legal work, but clearly states that donations are not tax deductible.

“Liberty Counsel Action’s mission is to advance religious freedom, the sanctity of human life, the family, responsible government, national security, and support for Israel through education and advocacy on the national, state and local levels,” the website states.
