Sweet November

Rain, chill to melt away

Staff writer

A wintry mix of rain and snow are projected to melt by the holiday weekend.

“There could be some big snowflakes early,” Vanessa Pearce, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Wichita, said.

Temperatures will stay chilly in the 40s until Thanksgiving day, which is expected to warm up into the 50s and be clear, calm, and seasonable.

“It will be a pretty nice day,” she said, adding that more of the same is expected this weekend until warm, clear weather and highs in the 50s gives way to possible wintry mix after midnight Saturday.

“We could see some snow,” she said. “Not with any accumulation, a little bit on the grassy surfaces, more like rain.”

Temperatures are expected to cool Sunday and Monday into the low 40s as winter begins to set in.
