Random Thoughts

Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote a daily article for the newspaper called, “My Day.”
This is my day.
Habit has a lot to do with it. For instance, I start pretty reluctant. I can’t get excited, oh well, what can I do? I prop up my eyes, kick off the covers, and get up. In the bathroom, I wash my face, splashing warm water on it, and try to put some life into it.
Then comes breakfast. What to have. There is toast, cereal, eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Oh yes, the main thing is coffee, that is my real waker-upper.
Next comes the daily newspaper. It is not the same; the recession has ruined it. Not much in the news, just awful crimes and depressing news. In state and local are the obituaries. I say a prayer for the grieving relatives and friends. I check the sports page to see if my favorite teams have won. Last, I read the comics. Sometimes they cheer me up. It’s nap time then.
Dressing is tiring. First, I put my socks on. I sit and work the socks over the toes and heels. Now that is strenuous and I’m worn out.
The rest of the day might be interesting. I can read, get a telephone call, or maybe a relative or friend will stop by, so there is hope in the future. There’s not much on TV to interest me. I do watch old movies. Some of the old ones are really good.
