So you have a birthday. Well, I just did, a big one. 106! I can’t believe it. I try to think of the past years and all that has happened. It blows my mind.
From horse and buggy to rockets to the moon. I can remember a time when there were no telephones, no cars, no radio, no TV, no laundry appliances or stoves, no air conditioning using electric power. The microwave oven, I use every day. The running water, our water source was a well or a spring. The new telephones are just pure magic.
I think of that little girl with a long braid of hair who liked to squeeze mud between her toes.
The games we used to play, Ouija or put your fingers on a small table and say “rise.” There was that bowl of liquid, you asked it questions and words came up with an answer. There was a box of sticks with words written on the side, you would shake them up and pick one up on it was the answer to your question.
There were people who read the lines in your hand or used cards to tell your fortune. It was all fun and exciting and we have believed the answers given to us.
We have always been intrigued by mystery. I wonder what will be discovered. I’m sure there are things out there that haven’t been produced or discovered yet, and some smart person will develop it. So don’t sit down and think that everything has been discovered. Maybe you will be the one who does it.
Thank you for all the beautiful cards and flowers you know who you are.
