Ever since the Boston people dumped the British tea in the Atlantic, tea has been around.
Two ladies recently put on a tea party. The ladies were the California girls. Those ladies came to Marion County a number of years ago to revisit their roots at Ramona. Not only that, they decided to restore the small town to its original settlement.
What they have accomplished is amazing. During the past few years, they have put on tea parties. There was one just a few days ago. It was a theme party. The theme was ladies’ hats. The decorated tables carried out the theme by centering each table with a delightful hat and other related articles to express their idea. Besides that, everyone was invited to wear a hat.
The various hats were very interesting. Young boys and girls were servers. They did a professional job. A gentleman, a friend of the California Sisters, was visiting from California and performed beautiful music on the piano.
Guests came from Newton, Wichita, Salina, McPherson, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Marion. It was a fun thing that brightened the little country town.
I have to mention our beautiful fall weather. Flowers are still blooming in bright colors.
I have been doing some light reading — a series of books about women traveling together. Sometimes humorous. They are all named “Sister Chicks.” Different people and different places. Pleasant and inspirational.
Just think. We are coming to the time to vote for the next leaders of our beloved country. I hope we do our duty in a thoughtful and responsible way.
Remember to do what we can to make our country a great place to live and not expect our country to do everything for us.
