Real life
To the editor:
I love reading the Marion County Record.
I was born and raised in Great Bend. My maternal grandmother was deputy county clerk in Barton County.
Sadly, my parents often were in the police blotter, but I survived and thrived as a student, a Ph.D., a KU scientist, and a business owner in Lawrence.
I moved to New Zealand for a big project. Then, I moved to Tucson. I’ve even been in People magazine (in a good way).
There are always crooks, thieves, drunkards, violent neighbors, or stoned people in every town. It’s just easier to see it all in a small town or county.
While I have the New York Times and Wall Street Journal for business and national politics, the Marion County Record reminds us about regular folks.
Your website is a reminder of real life — of people trying to do the right thing. Thank you.
