Remodel nearly complete

Contractors from Axel Construction worked to put the finishing touches on apartments in the September Apartment complex. They have been remodeling the complex since January.

Resident Magdalen Dvorak said she loves her newly remodeled apartment. She lives in one of four apartments with extended living rooms.

“I wouldn’t change a thing about it,” she said. “I’ve got it fixed up like home.”

Dvorak has lived at September since May, and while construction has been noisy at times, she and other residents say results were worth it.

Apartment manager Wendy Buchanan said the complex feels like a completely different building and allows residents many conveniences not previously available to them. Seven of the 20 apartments are occupied with applications for others under review.

The newly remodeled complex features an exercise room, computer room, laundry room, and indoor mailboxes. Four apartments were converted into two bedroom apartments. A large-screen TV and video area allows residents and guests to mingle.

All apartments feature handicap bathrooms with walk-in showers and handles on every wall to prevent falling. Kitchens have new appliances and cabinets. All flooring within the complex was replaced.

A ribbon cutting and open house will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 22. The apartments also will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23. Some duplexes at Victory Ln. will be open to tour.
