Renovation work slow but steady

Wichita resident Todd Malcolm’s renovation of the Bowron building in Marion is going slower than expected, but making steady progress.
When he bought the historic building in August 2020, he hoped to have the 2,700 square-foot top floor, which will be his living space, renovated by early 2021.
Studs are now up against insulated exterior walls. The walls await wiring and heating and air conditioning duct work. Drywall and windows will be installed after that.
The upper floor also awaits plumbing so bathrooms and a kitchen can be installed.
The living quarters will include four bedrooms and 2½ bathrooms. A second-story deck also might be installed.
After work on the roof is completed, then air conditioning units will be installed there.
Malcolm said he was using all local contractors and buying supplies from local merchants.
